A local woman that use to watch my kids and is a some what friend to the mother of my children is getting married. But what the real kicker is that it's being held in the garden center section of "Wal-Mart"

Yes That's right Wal-Mart. It's not the fact that she getting married that is a beautiful thing but if it wasn't bad enough that we live in the Midwestern upper part of Illinois in a small town call Freeport, but we have to live up to our socialized cliche of being country bumpkins and hillbillies.

The day of the wedding is February 14th and it's being covered by CNN and will more than likely be on the internet somewhere. I really have to get the F#%$ outta dodge now. To me they might as well set tires a flame in the parking lot and drink moonshine till dawn.

Um, maybe they met at walmart? maybe they can't afford and expensive hall? Doesn't mean they are gutter trash or whatever insult people look down their high horse from.

If it has significance to the two of them and they want it to be there than what business is it of yours?

I am not seeing anything blatantly terrible about this. Is there a news article about it that might explain the significance of the Wal-mart?

Just don't go hunting for figures at that Wal-Mart on the wedding day and you will be alright.

Freeport is an hour away from me. I'll go. Where else can you hunt for the newest wave of Animated and eat a slice of cake at the same time. If they serve Italian Beef buffet-style for the reception, I'll be convinced I'm in Heaven. :lol

Maybe they are having it at a Walmart just for the attention and while it may be none of our business it does not sound like they care if CNN cover it.

why do you care where they get married? It's their choice where they want to do it and obviously it has some kind of significance to them. When I get married I want to do it somewhere non-traditional so will you make fun of me if it somehow got covered by the news?

It's their day, they are allowed to do whatever they want and I know they wouldn't care if others cared at all.

I'm not ragging on them as a person, just the choice of location. Yeah they may have met there and have a history there. But just as funds could be a problem, a park is free. In my personal opinion why would you get married in a shopping center where hundreds if not thousands of people shop daily.

This is supposed to be a big moment and special time in a persons life do you honestly think they are doing it because it's the most romantic thing ever. Yeah trying being passionate explaining to someone you got married at "Wal-Mart".

This wedding is free basically eveything is being donated to them which is cool but at the same time I can't help but shake my head that it's at a Wal-Mart and that is the only reason why everything is being given to them. No one would give a damn if it wasn't. Am I right.

But not to rag on them it great they are getting married just the location Yee haw ridiculous. Because nothing is as special as when your wife to be walks past the clearance aisle and into your waiting arms.:peoples:

If it was plum ridiculous and made no sense someone will.

So basically, in your eyes, you disapprove of them getting married in a walmart because they fit your definition of hillbillies. I suppose if my fine asian self got married in a walmart to receive a cheap wedding this would not have such a negative connotion or direction.

I think that people that judge are pathetic...but I think I'm judging at the moment so...

It's their day. Don't bring it up or talk ill of it.

I'm sure that you wouldn't like it if they called you "pathetic" for being on a forum based around a toy brand. (I bolded this because I felt it was a strong counterpoint :sly:  ).

I think he disapproves of it because Walmart is a stupid place to shop, let alone get MARRIED in.

Oddly, I think the Taco Bell wedding is awesome.

I know I wouldn't - but everyone is entitled to their opinion.
