if someone approached you and offered you a chance to do something completely outrageous, something you never saw yourself doing in your life ever, without any strings attached, would ya try it?

like i read an article a while back in Popular Science about one day, adventure junkies would be able to skydive from just outside the atmosphere (higher than SR-71 pilots ever got)
and THAT seems like something worth considering.

(hey, if yer gonna die doing something ridiculous...go big.)

would ya do something that crazy?

what is something totally outside of your comfort zone you'd try just once if given the chance?

I'd like to think I would, but it would probably depend on the situation.

I honestly can't think of anything legal which I'd really like to try, if given the opportunity. I'm quite happy in my comfort zone and don't have much interest in venturing out of it.

no swimming with great whites (even in a shark cage)?
or hiking across a continent with just the gear you can carry?

as for illegal activity, some things i might try just once, and some would never enter my mind.
like i wish i could take a Bugatti Veyron:

and drive I-40 from the West coast all the way to the East coast as fast as possible. (heck, if i made it to the end, i'd park the car at the first jail i found and be happy to spend time away for doing it.)

    and um, Kickback....
    ewwwww....

It's all fine and good to talk about doing wild crazy things. But first of all 2 questions must be weighed up:

    1) What do you stand to gain?

    2) What do you put at risk?

#1 has to really be worth it, but at the same time if #2 is of little consequence, well then maybe it doesn't qualify.

I take a selfish view. If the reward is just bragging rights, just something I can point to as an achievement, then it's not really worth it to me. Like people who do things just so they can take a photo and post it on facebook. If on the other hand, it's something I would grow from and derive personal enjoyment from, well then I would strongly consider it.

Of course the fact that I would have to weigh things up tells you straight off that I'm not exactly a high-stakes gambler.

    Oh my! :lol  :lol  :lol

That actually sounds pretty nice! Take a camera with you to document the trip... I could definitely see myself potentially giving that a try! My fiance would probably have an issue with it, though! :lol

same here. I like my comfort zone. I'll let others spit in the face of Darwin. I'll just keep to my self and shake my head when Darwin get's his revenge on these people...

I'm quite happy where I am.

I haven't seen sunlight in a week. Bliss.

i wasn't considering bragging rights, just thinking about what people would just try once if they were handed the opportunity.

there's extreme cases and then there's little things most would think small or silly.
the things you look back at when you are 90 and wishing you could do instead of eating pudding and fiber pills.

sometimes, i think about a girl i knew way back in 1987, and wish i had kissed her- the beat down from her boyfriend woulda been worth it, i imagine- and gotten over it.

I have a friend who decided one day to kill 2 birds with one stone. she was tired, beaten down with depression and just didn't see much in what she did. so she paid for a skydiving trip.
she wanted to break out of her comfort zone, and in a way, she considered it a "suicide." she wanted to do away with her old self and her fears.

it makes me think what we can do, would do with our lives if given a little wiggle room and a chance to learn from it.

i am terrified of heights and being inside the cabin of a 747 crushes me. but jumping from orbit just once, i think it would change a lot in me (if they can restart my frozen heart after i land, lol.)

I can't think of anything that I would like to try right now, but based on some of the things that I have tried in the past, I'm pretty sure that I will try some more crazy stuff in the future. I prefer to regret doing something than regret not doing it.

I dunno. Skydiving is one thing that's out of my comfort zone, but I suppose under certain circumstances, I might feel comfortable enough to try it. Cliff diving, not so much. Maybe if I had a parachute.

If there were no strings attached and I would not have to go to prison, I might consider it.
