I'd still be collecting, but I wouldn't be as well informed about what is out there and what is coming up and such.

I dont think the net has anything to do on whether or not you would collect anything. It only helps you collect things faster.

What is this "Internet" you speak of...

Like others have said, Collecting: yes, but a lot less of it due to availability and knowledge. Back before I had the Internet I relied on magazines like toyfare and the local comic shop though...

Hard to say either way for sure, because the internet factors heavily in my "rediscovery" of TFs around 1996 or so. I was surfing sites semi-randomly and stumbled on various personal TF fansites, and soon I couldn't get enough.

Half the fun i had when i started collecting was footwork- going to large bookstores for ToyFare, or Lee's Price Guide or the other toy hobby rags and haggling.

but the net has been a blessing in the sense that now, i can see the toys i am trying to buy, or have greater access and ease of access to em.
i would still be trying to collect w/o the net, but it would have worn me down to a breakdown.

Without Ebay & Transformerland there would be absolutely no way in hell I could collect MIB G1.

Most of my TF's I got via the internet. I would probably still collect TF's, but it would be a crap collection.

I may still collect but not at the same scale. Having others to share your thoughts makes collecting a bit more fun and interesting.

Comic and collector shops along with collector shows were always there before ebay for G1 stuff.

if it wasn't for the Internet I wounldn't be collecting TF's. When the classics were first announced I knew I had to get them all and if it wasn't for the net I would not have known they existed.

Ironically not only the Internet, but the overall improvement in worldwide trading made my interest in collecting TFs decrease substantially.

All I had in the nineties was a bunch of US Marvel comics, Terebi Magazines, a Combatron gift set and some brazilian minibots. Collecting TF items was an adventure, everytime I got something new I'd dream about finding the next one.

Even when I was in Japan, it was always exciting to hop in the train and cross the country behind vintage toy shops.

Now all I have to do is click here and there, and a few days later I get stuff arriving at my door. I actually miss the days when I had to go out and search for TFs everywhere.

If it wasnt for the internet, I'd have no easy way of getting vintage figures, and I probably wouldnt be into the new figures. And if I was into them, I'd have no ideas which ones were new, my overall purchasing decisions would be more muddled. So no, I most likely wouldnt collect without it

I started collecting well before I got the internet, so I imagine I probably still would be, although ebay accounts for the vast majority of my G1 collection.

There's also a whole bunch of stuff I'd never have known about.

certainly not as much. but what I really use it (and this site especially) for is to make informed decisions. for instance, I would probably just pick up classics prowl as soon as I see it in a store. however, because of the net, I know (and will have available for purchase) that a japanese version will be coming out, and can compare pics between the two, and can choose to purchase the one that I feel looks the best.

I would still be a collector but on a much smaller scale. I buy a lot of stuff online, so it would make it much harder getting some figures. I probably would not have many exclusives, japanese or rare figures in my collection, heck I probably wouldn't even know half of them exist.
