Simple Question. Both idea's have been brought from Armada.
I said Jetfire, due to the fact Prime will most likely not have a Trailer once in the whole movie. Plus it gives Prime some advatages, like flying.

plus, since the only trailers he could pull would either be a big box or a tanker.... bleh.

 

I choose the trailer because that would mean more power to optimus and jetfire as a own bot would mean more power I think, but that only depends on how much more power optimus gets if he would combine with the trailer

I like Movie Optimus Prime the way he is... no trailer. And I'm not digging his combining with Jetfire, either. What was Bay thinking, using a concept from Armada that should have stayed in Armada?

 

Trailer feels more logical to me, as it can be viewed as an extension of Prime's vehicle mode, as opposed to linking up to a random Transformer.

 

Perhapes Jetfire swaps to a tractor trailer mode to be hauled behind Prime? If they can scan anything and mimic it. Why would Jetfire have to stay as a SR-71?

Prime's trailer isn't supposed to do ANYTHING but vanish when he transforms. Having it transform or combine is just ludicrous.

 

He was probably thinking it was an awesome idea.

Just not that awesome when used as jet-pants. But movie Ops doesn't use him as jet pants, but rather combines intricately to become a whole new-looking robot.

 

On some rare occasions in G1, the trailer actually served as a battlestation. Also had a little remote car in it called Roller. That could be used in ROTF?. I prefer him as a single truck without it for the movie. Imagine Optimus having to rush off to battle as a real life truck with a trailer on the back. Roll out! But wait for me! Im carrying a few extra tonnes here! - at least as a single truck he can still slide in, transform and get his ass kicked by megatron again.

Also Im liking the potential extra combiners. Will just make the movie bigger and better.

Jetfire is a plane, and planes are cool. A truck and a plane combining to make a super-robot is very cool.

If it was his trailer, what would the explanation be? It was just a huge chunk of Cybertronian armor/weapon-systems that got formatted into a container? Containers aren't cool.
