It would be a special cartoon episode for the 30th anniversary. Or at least the first four issues redrawn for a new mini-series of comics. Scene for scene, line for line, no additions or removals. Only the character designs would be clearer, more detailed and consistent. Characters would have Cybertronian bodies prior to reawakening on Earth though. And there could be a bunch of known cameos in the opening scene where we see various generic Cybertronians.
I'd love to see them as an animated one off. The story is far from perfect but there are some scenes that would translate really well imo, and some scenes, such as the way they handle Sparkplug's 'betrayal' would show how different the tone was between the original comics and show.
I think there'd be better issues to pick than the first four. The first issue especially would be painful to watch, with all those info dump splash pages and extended expositionary narration boxes...
I don't understand why Hasbro doesn't make "straight to DVD" animated Transformers films. DC and Marvel do them (Public Enemies, the Wolverine VS. films, ect). We could have an TFA continuation or a MTMTE movie.
How in the world their try bring Spider-Man and SHIELD into the mix like in Issue #3. Their is no way that Marvel lets Hasbro used those character maybe replaced them with Snake-Eyes and G.I.Joe.
Same here! They'd be great ways to cater to the fans of certain series or get people on board certain series which have never had the benefit of being on screen.
I could see like five movies adapting the entire US series; #1: The Transformers: Origins #2: The Transformers: Reign of Shockwave #3: The Transformers: Underbase Unbound #4: The Transformers: Matrix Quest #5: The Transformers: On the Edge of Extinction I mean, they'd have to tighten it up a little. Work Scorponok's introduction into Underbase, "Kill" Megatron at the end of Reign of Shockwave, etc., but, yeah. Alternatively, I'd prefer a Resolute style mini-series taking place on a G1 Season 2 style Earth. And shit goes really bad. I don't know how many TFs showed up in S1 and 2, but I'd want at least half of them to die. Another option would be to adapt the IDW minis. And make Revelations make sense on it's own. And work Maximum Dynobots in before that to make Revelations the finale.
I'd love to see DTDVD movies (DC style) based on all of the most iconic Transformers stories. The Original mini-series Stormbringer War and Peace Last Stand of the Wreckers Immediately spring to mind.
I think I know why hasbro doesn't do it. With the toys for both DOTM and Prime not doing so well, they're probably reigning in the leashes. Not too much, but still. Prime's season 3 plans were botched, and RID working new toy bodies into the stories, I think they're more focused on marketing their products through their fiction. So, at least for right now, I don't think they'll be doing anything without a toyline in mind. But for the big 30, anything's possible I suppose...
meh i'd rather see MTMTE get animated than marvel g1, though not that i don't like marvel g1, i'd just rather see MTMTE get animated
And I'd rather they just continued the original cartoon, if new G1 animation was on the table. Although I'd be very interested in an adaption of the Marvel comics too. But they better not cut "O", or Bomber Bill from the script!
The Marvel TF saga is my all-time definitive telling of the Transformers story, but I'm not sure I could get behind an adaptation (frame for frame? No changes? What's the point) for animation of issues #1-4.
