No way! He's truly the only voice for Optimus Prime. He IS Optimus Prime. How could even ask such a question?

Peter Cullen and Frank Welker. Because they ARE Optimus and Megatron.
But please give them interesting lines to say.
(I don't lament about Megatron, but Optimus surely needed that "little" change in the last episode. The character itself was boring.)

Nah, it works. It's just the way that it was executed in the earlier episodes that sucked.

Nope, Optimus Prime is Peter Cullen, and Peter Cullen is Optimus Prime, I'm not saying this in the way that a geewuner says that anything not G1 isn't transformers. But Peter Cullen was Optimus Prime right from the start, and only Cullen can provide Prime's rich, diverse character.

God, this. People criticizing Cullen really need to re-watch the movies: his performance there has none of the problems here.

No. Who's been complaining? Let me cast the first stone:p
I sometimes wonder if I’d watch this if Mr. Cullen and Welker weren’t lending their voices, as it was the announcement of these two giants reprising their roles is what got me interested from the beginning. I have since put my dislikes for character designs behind me (I love them now), but I wonder what would have happened had things been different. Maybe things would be unchanged, but I’m glad I’ll never have to find out:)

Just as Hasbro has said Mr. Cullen will be Prime for as long as he likes to be, I hope the same offer is given to Mr. Welker sooner than later. He made Megatron, and continues to make this super villain better than ever before with each line delivered. I can’t wait for season two to start!

Who the hell can make fun of that golden voice let alone not like it.

Also got to say listen to welkers voice from the beginning to the end of the season. He was definitely rusty to do the gravelly voice but towards the end you can tell he has got the chops back.

The two together is like chocolate and peanut butter.mmmmm reeses peanut butter cups.

    Just a wonderful duo.

Thats a pretty harsh statement against Gary Chalk, Neil Kaplan, and David Kaye.
Yes, Cullen is the original but these guys are Optimus Prime too... ;)

As for this thread, Keep Cullen... he is doing a AMAZING job, he is showing so much emotion in his voice when he fights others, or just regular conversations.
This Prime is suppose to seem mature, so Cullen is perfect for the job.
But if we needed to change the voice.... Gary Chalk or DR.SMOOV would be my pick.

How is it harsh? Did they not try to copy Peter Cullen’s Prime?

I think its saying basically saying they are pretenders and they don't compare to Peter Cullen.
Or maybe I am over thinking like I always do.

Garry Chalk and David Kaye i don't think we're even trying to immitate Cullen.

    Neil however i think does.

I started with Gary Chalk and then David Kaye, but I think that with Frank Welker as Megatron, you gotta have Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime. There like PB&J. That's almost never wrong. (Unless you have a peanut allergy)

The first series i watched (TFA) had David Keyna (sp?) voicing Optimus but after watching the G1 episodes, and the movies I think that Peter Cullen is the true voice for Optimus. i have heard and read all the complaints with Cullen but back of my mind i am thinking they guy was out of the picture for a long time so he is just trying to get back into the "swing of things" idk how different it is to do a voice for a tv show compared to a movie but u would think there is a difference. i know i saw on a youtube clip he once said that it is a big difference doing a voice for a video game compared to a movie.

David Kaye certainly did not. He was the best voice for TFA Optimus, IMHO.

I like how they took the voice David uses for anti-Heroes like Sessohmahru and used for TFA Optimus Prime. :thumb  Props to the TFA team.

Neil Kaplan's Optimus is kinda silly. Like, your-friend-that-can-do-a-funny-optimus-voice silly.

I like the voice they gave to Optimus for TFP it fits the mood and tone of the show. And as for the other voice actors who did the other primes they are amazing in thier own right I mean some people grew up with Gary Chalk's voice for Optimus Primal like I was.
