So.... I admit "The Ongoing"'s designs aren't the best....

But would you buy toys based of their design? Is there any specific character you would buy?

For me, I'd like to see what the toys look like. Their transformation, playability, etc.

    And you all?

Depends on the ongoing, I'm only in to G1's and G2's. I'm going to buy Drift, so yes. Always nice with some new, fresh recruits.

Don's new designs have really grown on me since this book came out. They're like G1 versions of the movie designs and look a million times better than Bay's robots. I'd be all over Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Hot Rod and Bumblebee if they ever did them.

i like the designs...BUT, i have my 1980s G1 toys and they're good enough for me. Would there be enough support at retail for these coming so soon after the Classics line - which is also an update of those original designs?

This reminds me of all the enthusiasm for the War Within designs. And look what happen there: those awful Titanium misfires, with their floppy limbs, weird rubbery bits and general ugliness.

And, to be honest, how many times do you need to own the same character in a moderately different form?

Definitely. I really like Don's new designs for the characters in the Ongoing and he consistently designs his charaacters so that the transformations actually 'work', so the designs should survive the transition to toys quite well.

I find the new designs to be hit-and-miss. I can't stand the Hot Rod design, but I dream about owning that Menasor in plastic form.

well, lets assume for discussions sake that galoob didn't handle the designs and they got an honest chance of being at least good quality.

I assume your second question is rhetorical, but in case it isnt, people are only interested in buying the same character over and over again anyway, what difference does it make if its based off of a comic, movie, videogame, or tv show? Thats all TF fans ever want.

whooo I would buy all of them xD or at least the ones I can afford... that would be cool, I love their design too much, but well I don't think that's possible... maybe in 5 years xD (but then, Ongoing would be forgotten... xD)

    I probably would, yes.
So I really hope they don't make any.

I think they should have based the look on the CHUG line, there really is no consitentcy line-wide and I don't think the psuedo-gee-won-movie verse style will last for any decent time.

Maybe. I think being translated into toys might smooth out some of the less appealing details like what happens with BayFormers designs.

I'm not crazy about "The Ongoing" designs, so I'd probably have to see them first.

I'm not a fan of the look so I've skipped buying the comic books.

Kind of hard to say how something will translate into toy form so I'd have to see them first as they might look better as toys than as comic book characters. Or they could look worse, it's always hard to guess with the translation to a toy.
