I was thinking about this the other night, and it occurred to me that Hasbro is kind of missing out on a good idea here. Why not take Sideswipe's new convertible Vette mode and make a Human Alliance? According to a lot of people, Sideswipe is one of the weakest HA molds (although, I'm alright with him. Say what you want, I think Bumblebee's the worst), so why not give him a second try, and work out something better since there's a little less car to go around? It would especially be interesting to see what they could come up with now that the engineering of the HA's have gotten better (Jazz and Roadbuster being great examples).

So, what do you think? Would you buy it?

If it has chunky arms and legs like the ROTF one, no sale.

Optimistically, they'd make an entirely new mold.

Well the main problem with ROTF Sideswipe was the chunky backpack, so if he was a vette, i think that would solve 99% of the mold's problem.

I think with him being a convertible, it would eliminate part of his back kibble. But, I still think they would have issues keeping his taillights for the chest, like the deluxe.

I do love HA Sideswipes vehicle mode but honestly whats the point in having a transformer that you do not want to transform because of a fugly robot mode. So if they made a new mold and it has a better bot mode hell yes.

Him being a convertible wouldn't affect the backpack AT ALL. I have him standing right in front of me and his backpack is 85% formed from the hood, not the roof. The roof's impact on his back kibble is entirely negligible. To make a new HA that solves the current version's problem would require a massive overall, a mostly new mold, not a simple retool.

Besides, let's worry about anybody getting a second mold for after the rest of the cast gets their first one.

I don't feel like the tail lights as a chest thing is that hard to get around. I think they just got lazy on the deluxe.

I probably would if they dramatically altered the transformation with an all-new mold. I love the Shadow Blade HA Sideswipe's deco and alt mode, but the sculpt of the robot mode is meh. But I love the HA series and Sideswipe, so I'd almost certainly get it, especially if the figure had blades, guns, and (oddly enough, I consider this the least likely) silver paint.

If they used the head/chest transformation of the old HA and the arm/leg transformation of the Sidearm Sideswipe, it'd work out great and be a definite buy for me. With the right detailing on the back of them, the seats could easily turn into the legs, and that's the biggest issue facing it.

Make him as accurate and awesome a transformation as HA Jazz and he's definitely bought. The gimp legs, chunky arms, and giant backpack made me avoid the last HA Sideswipe mold like the plague.
