Kind of like a profile book, but only featuring hi-res quality packaging artwork from the 1980s up to the end of G2, along with their tech spec bios.

Sure you see these online like botchthecrab.com but it would be nice to have an actual book of them. Or does one already exist?

Why end with G2? I'd say catalogue every piece of artwork. Right up until now with SS. Separate the years into different books and source artist names. I'd kill for a BW one.

    Consider me as having pre-ordered.

Oh, and please include the yearly catalogs from the 80's. I love those.

It would certainly be better than saving it from the actual package.
    Clear up some space.

Wasn’t there a kickstarter for this very same idea a few years ago?

Yes. I have that old G1 TFU book and I love it. Packaging art, tech specs, bios, catalogs, toy pics with accessories and character cards would be handy.

i wouldn't buy the book, but i'd definitely see a market for it.

i'm more interested in some more of those tin signs hobby lobby had of major g1 guys' box art. never getting an optimus or starscream was criminal.

    I
don’t think it was for the packaging specifically.

I think they could even get away with a book per year if they were paperback and had individual pricing given some years were slower than others.

How did you miss the Legacy book IDW put out a few years ago? It's all the box art (that they could find) from G1 and G2. Beautiful hardcover. You should still be able to find it on amazon. It's fantastic.

I still want an expanded version of Transformers Universe, where every single extended profile Budiansky wrote is dug out from wherever it is (there’s gotta be at least profiles for the other Terrorcons), draw new art primarily based on the toys, but with inspiration from the cartoon/comic models, and release a nice big hardcover.

Heck, if there are some omissions from up to ‘88 or so that just don’t have full profiles, have a writer come in and expand the toy bios into a fuller, Budiansky-esque one.

And if they do Micromasters, please put them in their own section. One of the bummers of the Dreamwave profiles is bumping into a useless Micromaster profile every other page.

I have started a web site that has this info. It is still a work in progress. It started out as my inventory list, so it only has what is in my collection (which is around 1600 figures). G1 to Beast Machines have all the packaging pics and tech specs.
