Yeah, because there are sure a number of vehicles that I love and therefore would have a hard time choosing what to transform into.

Being an actual Transformer would be cool. But I personally like the whole Mecha suit (or Headmaster) kinda thing, so you can still be human. Cause if your born as a TF you wouldn't think its as cool as if you went from being human to a TF....

I would rather become a total and complete Transformer. At least in that way, I get to live for countless millennia... only exceptions to that is if I get pwned by Decepticons or I become completely drained of energon.

F ya! That would be sweet. The only problem is that the government would mistake our little get togethers as a rally call for war. Then we would have no choice but to take over the world. Wait, that is not a problem.

Oh yeah, I'd love to not be able to clasp my hands together or lay on my back anymore and still be able to get up on my own.

Actually, I would much prefer to be reanimated as a digital being on a computer, with lots of powers. Maybe the power to transform into a car! we would have no need for a society or laws and nobody could kill each other! That said, we would be completely at the mercy of the real world, and viruses.

Personally, I choose mortal humanity. Makes me appreciate the time I have!

...And for you youngsters, may I recommend viewing Galaxy Express, an awesome Anime film from around 1979-ish. It touched greatly on this. Also had one of my favorite Anime Characters of all time, Captain Harlock!:thumbs2:

Yeah I get what your saying.Id prefer that way as well, but in reality we would probably have to go the Ghost in the Shell way.

And that wouldn't be so bad cuz then you could have a human body and a robot car body that you could switch between.Plus you could have a hollo driver.Something for people to see and passengers to talk to.

Id probably be a car of some kind though something that flies would be awesome too.

By some cosmic joke, I'd probably end up a Waspinator. So, no, I wouldn't want to end up getting blasted to bits every day.

It was kind of surprising to see something like this, because I had given the topic thought just the other day.
I thought to myself, "what is going to be the next big thing in technological advancement?" and what I came up with seems possible:

Considering the importance of human connectivity to electronic devices and machines, becoming even more integrated with machines seems highly probable. Many people today are always plugged into their iPods, have their cell phones glued to their ears, are always connected to the Internet and computers, and new nanobot technology allows machines to work inside of us to keep us healthy. The next step would be further mechanical/electronic integration, more physical; something "cyborg-like" would be possible. Stuff that seems like sci-fi impossibilities now could definitely become reality: robotically enhanced organs (already in existence, becoming more advanced every day) like eyes that could have zoom-in functions, for example. Microchips connected to the brain to transmit data (scientists believe it is completely possible to be able to "download" information directly into the human brain a la The Matrix). Imagine being able to access the entire Internet's wealth of information with a mere thought.
The ultimate pinnacle of human-machine connectivity would be, in my opinion, "consciousness transfer." That is, transferring a human's "mind," i.e. thoughts, memories, personality, one's actual consciousness, from the brain to a computer processor. This would be one step higher than A.I. because it would be actual intelligence. Truly, this could be used for both good and bad: a machine with a human's mind would be able to have almost unlimited possibilities.
Enter advanced robotics. Creation of androids or other robots that are super advanced and can do any number of specialized tasks. Add in the "consciousness transfer" and you have ultra-specialist robots here. Need a surgeon? Build a surgeon robot with actual intelligence, combined with the ability to learn medical information in seconds where it would take years for a normal mind to learn, and you have an incredibly skilled surgeon capable of performing extremely difficult tasks with incredible percision. The same could go for construction workers, teachers, and, of course, soldiers.
Now, getting to the original topic of this thread: transforming robots. I believe such a thing is possible, even without everything else I've mentioned. Within 100 years I imagine "real" Transformers will be a reality (sans A.I., most likely).
If this is possible, and if the "consciousness transfer" is possible, I believe it is definitely possible that humans could, in essence, become machines. If people were given the option to transfer their mind into a robotic body, one that could transform, nonetheless, I think many would go for it. Not only would this dramatically enhance mental and physical abilities, but it would extend life as well (as long as a proper power source were developed). If these "techno-organics" (to borrow a TF term) could also transform into a car, or a jet, or a specialized vehicle for whatever profession they held, then that would make it all the more appealing.
Of course, many would be completely opposed to this, as it is unarguably a drastic idea. Humans wouldn't really be human even if they retained their human thoughts and emotions via consciousness transfer. Reproduction would also be somewhat of a problem (though I'm sure they'd find a way around that), and there wouldn't be a need to say, eat or drink. Religious groups would likely be completely opposed to it as it would be seen as an ultimate violation of God's handiwork, by trading our God-given bodies in for man-made mechanical ones.
There are positives and negatives on both sides, and it is an extremely interesting concept. I've never seen Ghost in the Shell or whatever, so I'm not familiar with any of that jazz, but I've studied a lot of "real-life sci-fi" stuff, and think it's a possibility. Heck, I think Hawking said that cyborgization would likely be the way of the future, and I completely agree that it'll probably happen at some point, since people are obsessed with electronic and mechanical connection (except for the Amish, they'd be the last true humans left :lol ).
Would I personally do it, if the technology were available, proven, and safe?
    Probably.
I apologize for my lengthy discourse, but I thought it was interesting that this exact topic is something I'd thought about just the other day.

    ^^

    That was a great one.

I have givin it alot of thought myself.Id have to jump on the immortality bandwagon, cuz honestly I wanna see more of life and the universe and I cant do it dead.

And as always,a giant transforming robot body would be awesome.

Also,I don't think id miss sex or eating and stuff.Compared to power and immortality that stuff isn't so great.

Of course, like i've said, you could always have two bodies, human (cyborg I guess) and giant car robot.

Yah. I'd start with an armored core, equipped with multiple redundant power systems, comms systems, emergency signalling gear, backup sensors and basic pop-out, damage-resistant manipulators, and medical systems. Wrap the whole thing in a second layer of pop-off armor. Then load the resulting chunk into whatever bodyshell you wanted.

I'd start with a transformable bikebot - human-sized to interact with all the human-sized things in society, but with highway speeds on demand. Give it four arms and a set of flip-out tools.

Maybe also have a semi-milspec attack helicopter (civilianised, no weapons) in the garage. Good for longer-distance jaunts.

As for a transforming car... I dunno. The robot mode would be too big for most interaction and social actions, the car mode wouldn't have all that many advantages over a bike (and would need more fuel), and apart from being the coolest thing in the parking lot at BotCon, I can't really see all that many practical uses for it unless you _want_ to be stuck driving your friends and family everywhere.

I'd go with a motorcycle alt-mode. That way I'd still be relatively close to human size, yet still have the advantages that go with a vehicle mode. It would be rather hard to use everyday objects if you were the size most Transformers are depicted as, but being exactly human-sized would get rid of a lot of the coolness of being a robot. A cycle-bot would probably end up being between seven and nine feet tall, depending on the model, so it would be a nice midpoint.

However, it would also make gas prices that much more of a problem for anyone who made the transfer. Not to mention all of the hygiene problems that would go along with having to eat from a pump at the gas station. Have you seen how dirty those places are? It'd be like eating off of the floor. Ugh.
