The reason I ask, I just bought an extra Red Cliffjumper. I already have one that is for display, but I purchased this second b/c it was such a steal. His only problem is that he's loose, chrome is faded on rims, and there is a stress mark on the roof.

What I'm proposing is to make a custom character from him... some type of unique repaint (that I haven't designed yet).

Does this make me a bad fan? Your thoughts....

In my opinion, it's more of a compliment to take that old, poor loose faded robot and restore him into something newer :D

No, it doesn't make you a "bad fan". It's your toy, so it's all up to you in the end. I say you should kitbash it if you want to :thumb .

not at all will it make you a "bad fan", I was even thinking of turning one of my extra soundwaves into a cartoon accurate soundblaster!

Its doubtful he'll be worth much the way he is not anyways, so go ahead and make something cool out of him.

It's your toy. Do with it what you want

I think anything, including G1, is fine to paint. Just don't buy an afa graded MISB prime, then turn around and paint him pink or something ridiculous like that.

Agreed. Knock yourself out. Have fun.

Hell, take a G1 MISB Megatron, cut the box open with a rusty pair of garden sheers and handpaint him pink and brown plaid if you want. Don't feel like you can't do it because someone will turn their nose up at you.

Chances are someone will not like what you do, even if it's fantastic. It's just how things work out sometimes.

I agree. It's your toy so have fun with it!

And, seriously, we're talking about Cliffjumper here! It's not like he's incredibly rare or anything.

Don't forget to share the pics! :)

Maybe you could do a slight remold too, remember that some of the 86 minibots were remolded 84 toys, you could add a gun or tyre on top (think brawn and outback), add plastic parts and shave some off (maybe in the head to make it different), try to rearrange the transformation (think pipes and huffer)...

so many possibilites in such a small toy. Go for it!

Why would it? People repaint figures all the time, what makes G1 so special (aside from being older).

    Go ahead! Paint!

I always thought the fastest and most audacious way to infuriate a Transformers fan would be to take a super-rare or expensive repaint of a common character (like, say, the original Japanese Stepper, or Metrotitan, or even this year's Botcon Thundercracker) and to repaint it INTO that more common character: so you repaint Stepper into Jazz, Metrotitan into Metroplex, TC into Starscream, et cetera. Do something like that, and you'll have fans taking out bounties on your head. :)

As for resurrecting your worn Cliffjumper, I say go for it! Like others have said, he's not super-rare, and in his worn state probably not worth a lot of cash anyway..... so turn it into something even cooler!
