why would you keep the hotrod head!!!! id say that animated blur's head would look better! i brought it up before but the hotshot head is not a g1 head. i personally like dions head. maybe its because i like blur. thoughts?

 

A new head would have been nice. I never got hotshot, so it's all new to me.

 

Maybe because a different head would:

a) cost too much? (this IS the OTFCC freebie toy after all)
b) not actually work in the transformation scheme? I don't know how the Universe Hot Shot mold works, but I'm pretty sure the Ani. Blurr head would certainly not work in alt. mode, as I think the head somehow hides just behind the car hood. Also, the Uni. Hot Shot mold still has some sholder issues, and the fact Ani. Blurr's head sticks out a bit behind the neck would really restrict head articulation.

I guess I should also point out that only one freebie toy from the OTFCC has gotten a retool, and that was just the combiner head for Nexus Prime (Heatwave himself is identical in molding to Energon Barricade and ROTF Onslaught otherwise). All the retooling and whatnot goes into the non-freebie toys, which are pretty nice (such as the upcomming Punch/Counterpunch figure).

 

God, I hate it when people bring up issues like this. Do you have any idea how toys are made and what costs are involved?

I think this is probably the reason looking at my Uni. Hotshot right here. The head has to stick partially under the engine section, and Ani. Blurr's head would defintely not work.

His original toy never looked like a truck to me. I always thought of it like a boxy car with big tires.

Fosterlager is onto something though. Universe Hot Shot repainted as Gears would = bought on sight for me.

 

I say just remove the visor. But, it is just a FREEBIE so I guess I won't complain.

Fosterlager, that's interesting, that you didn't think of Gears as a truck. I can see that; he's a pretty loose interpretation of truck, that's for sure!   And his name is generic enough that he could be just about anything.

I thought of him as a truck, but as a kid was always a bit unclear on what exactly his "feet" pieces were supposed to be. Were they a truck cap? Or a pile of junk in his truckbed? Or was he some weird sci-fi truck that had a big chunk of machinery back there? I guess I finally decided it was supposed to be a cap.... enough so that every morning on the way to work, when I pass a blue truck with a mis-matched red cap that is always parked along my route, I think to myself, "hey, it's Gears."

Yeah. Sad.

 

Like it's been said I don't he's that big of a character to need a new head
