We know he's a Hasbro exclusive, so it won't happen. But Takara is notorious for painting more of the molds details than Hasbro does. I was looking him over and he's got some nice details that arent' accentuated. I touched up some of them with a metalic silver and red sharpie.



Do you think Takara might have applied more paints aps like this?

no. they wouldnt. takara have left very important details (megatron's NOSE) unpainted lately, so there's no reason to assume they'd actually paint downshift better.

 

It would ne nice if they did... But yeah, I think I will touch up my Downshift now that you've brought up the tail lights...

 

I don't know if Takara would touch the taillight area - choices there seem kinda arbitrary. One paint app I think would've been nice to add would be some green on the black forearm pieces, to help smooth out the sides of the car mode.

 

Yup, he'd probably have additional paint applications.

An at the same time, his eyes would be missing, or his crotch molded at an angle, or something.  

 

Well.. does that area really need to be painted on a 70's era muscle car? While its fairly common these days to see lights like that, I can't say I remember too many cars like that back then.

 

The style of the lights if very '69 Charger-ish. ESPECIALLY after you touch them up. I'm gonna fill in the middle around the lights with black. That'll really bring it out.

 

You're right. Those inside lights look a lot like the Charger's. One more excuse for a General Lee repaint.  

 

Too bad Kyrlon Fusion doesn't come in orange. I looked for it at Wal-Mart the day I found my second Downshift. I soooo want to paint him up that way.

 

I used a silver Sharpie and colored in the tailpipes and the bottom trim on the car as well after seeing this pic...



I also colored in the rearview mirrors and I was thinking about doing the door handles...

 

It does come in orange. It's just not a vrey nice orange.
