I think there's an inherent silliness in the concept of giant alien robots that turn into vehicles and speak English, and trying to force a serious, dark tone onto it creates a disconnect. The original cartoon was very lighthearted and comical and I think that's a big reason why the property has stayed with us for so long. Giving it this real-world setting necessitates a lot of stuff making good logical sense that just doesn't. They did an admirable job for a while but they've gone about as far as they can.
I'm about 43 minutes into Dark Side. Sweet Primus, every scene with Shia is excruciating. Every other part of the movie works just fine.
Personally Pain & Gain feels like the actual one time where the humor lands more than it does in Transformers. And that's because you're watching a movie where the main characters are screwing up in their crime. Kind of reminds me of Goodfellas or even Wolf of Wall Street in a way.
So Deep Wang makes you cringe, but Bumblebee urinating and mighty balls of Devastator are the thing that make you laugh?
Well, maybe because that kind of joke that involved Transformers was something new for me. Idk why but the human's jokes in those movies, for me, are far worse. Especially the "what are they doing in the room" joke in TLK when Cade and Vivian sound like they have sex like an animal...
Depends on the creative teams behind the films. Guardians of the Galaxy films are funny because the people behind are funny. Transformers...well...let's put it this way. Give James Gunn and some other people from the Guardians production team a shot at Transformers and they would be very different from (read: far funnier than) Bay's films.
As for the trailer mashup, wouldn't it be misleading like the Suicide Squad Bohemian Rhapsody trailer was for that film? I would have liked AOE a lot less if I saw that trailer first, lol. Hey film people, don't mislead your audience with trailers that misrepresent films!
Quick question, does the 12 in your name mark your age?
No god no more of this stupid forced humor. It’s not even funny.
Too many questions...answer is NO.
Me to,oh wow 5050 posts.
Comedy varies with people.
But a lighter film, where it's not all "fate of the world, desperation, shades of grey" would be most welcome at this point. I hope Travis Knight's Bee Movie delivers on that.
The curious thing is, the Bayformers mainly sought to avoid its traditional "heroes vs villains" format and be more of an alien story set on Earth. That was its main draw for a lot of the audience, primarily non-fans. But at this point, we could hopefully be seeing a return to that format with the new film.
I actually thought the parents were very believable in the first movie, especially his dad. They were completely pointless and annoying in the next two films.
no...kids ruin enough things already
Could be more similar to the cartoons too ?
Depends on the kid. Here's hoping Charlie will be different from Sam LaBeouf or Shrinking Shorts Tessa, and hopefully more likeable.
(I thought Isabella was okay)
jurassic park film series
the walking dead
war of the worlds
to name a few..im sure there's some im gonna think of post-post!
i just dont like it when stuff gets babied down to suit children...i get people will say, well transformers is made for kids, i get that but then they shouldnt have hired bay as the director as he cut his teeth on r-rated action films (not that his films are filled with gratuitous blood & gore ala q.t. but never-the-less)
& i personally loathe kid characters...they are almost always annoying & needy...almost as much as i hate shoe-horned in love stories in 2 hr. action films
that's why i love films like "the thing (1982)" & "predator" because they aint got time for that sophomoric 'love' nonsense
