Voice chips nave been a feature in toys for decades. Transformers toys have even had their share of "speaking" figures and accesories. Sometimes, though, this gimmick can backfire simply because the quality of the voice actor/recording is so sub-par it is laughable. I was lucky enough to get my hands on the ROTF leader class Starscream and discovered that the voice was recorded by Kim Jong Il from Team America: World Police (it's not really but it sounds like it). As soon as I heard "No one can defeat Starsqueem!" I had to have him. Anyone else have some choice goofy voice issues from their Transformers or other toys?

I personally feel that the 07 leader Megatron deserves some recognition. WTH were Hasbro thinking?

I think Leader SS definitely gets the award here. Jetfire isn't too far behind.

I think SS is the first talking movie leader to have more than one saying? I have Prime and Jetfire and they only say one thing.

DVD Edition Optimus Prime's display stand without question. It says "real movie sounds and phrases" on the box but sounds more like Duff Man than Peter Cullen.

I was going to say the same thing. How hard would it have been to just lift the actual lines from the movie? At least the Leader Starscream sounds like a bad impersonation. That thing sounds like Optimus wasn't available, so they called his brother Joe Bob Prime.

Holy snikes. I thought I was the only person alive who would admit to owning a Sega Master System. I was the ONE kid with it. I had to try and make it cool for years, while everyone else played with their Nintendos.

Maybe expectations were lower then, but G2 Optimus Prime & Megatron still stand out to me, with Zordon yelling "eyeumOptumus PRIME!", and nondescript male-sounding computer voice from every sci-fi ever saying "Megatron attack."

ROTF Leader Megatron. He sounds like Strong Bad in his pop-up book.

Armada Red Alert says, " Red Alert! Awoo woo woo!" It actually sounds like somebody was doing a really bad impression of a siren alarm instead of an actual siren sound effect!

I guess Hasbro didn't have the money to pay for an actual sound effect. I still laugh when I hear it.

:lol  All my friends had Segas growing up. In fact, Nintendos were regarded as the 'lame' systems in my school.
I just went through Master System>Mega Drive(Genesis)>Game Gear>Saturn to Playstations. I had a Gameboy once but I sold it.

Nothing good sir, just that the character in the film is a cockney but the toy is Scottish. It's like making Optimus Prime Swedish.

And no, there's nothing wrong with being Swedish either!!! :p
