This might be the topic of another thread from a long time ago but idk has there ever been a time where you didn't really feel the way a certain character acted or was portrayed in a certain series was a bit over the top or embarrassing? They all had their moments but I mean constantly made you not like that character in that series?

And movie doesn't count because I know a lot of people will be jumping on that wagon immediately.

I've never liked Energon Ironhide, for obvious reasons.

Also, G1 cartoon Wheelie. IDW's take was much better.

Animated Optimus Prime and Animated Megatron. Both characters were great for the show itself, and David Kaye and Corey Burton were brilliant in their portrayals of the characters, but I never really liked their personalites.

Optimus Prime is a great character, of course, but I didn't like how Animated Prime was portrayed as a young, inexperienced rookie with big dreams and a bright future in contrast to an old, wise, powerful, and hardened Optimus Prime (Generation One and Bayformers).

I like Megatron as much as the next Transfan, but I wasn't all that crazy about Animated Megatron's British Hannibal Lector personallity. Hugo Weaving's Megatron is more his style, IMO.

Grimlock and the Dinobots from the Sunbow G1 cartoon. I hated how they were portrayed there as opposed to in the Marvel G1 comics.

I like Animated Prime and Megatron for the same reasons you dislike them, apparently.

For me it's the Animated Dinobots. I actually like their character(s) well enough, but disliked that they were mostly just there to become lackeys for literally ANY bad guy who showed up on their island. (yet refuse to do jack crap for Autobots who help/save them more than a couple times.

Another candidate is Cybertron Megatron/Galvatron. That whole "I am more powerful than anyone or anything ('cept Optimus Prime) through sheer willpower!" bit got real old real fast.

    So...

You don't like the characters, because the characters they were playing weren't their characters?

Already been said, but nothing can ever be as bad as Ironhide from Energon. Jeff Spicolihide.

Word. Well, not the "retarded" bit. I didn't like how the Dinobots were all perfectly normal Transformers, but then Grimlock suddenly lost the power of proper speech. Pretty sure that was a desperate attempt to make Grimmy sound different from the characters spouting identical dialogue, but it's still bad writing.

I liked the G1 cartoon Dinos, because they were slowly getting smarter, like a newly-created lifeform would. Then Season 3 butchered them, adding to the list of reasons to dislike that fuck up or a season.

Agree, except I didn't like Kaye's portrayal at all. Burton was ok. I also did not like Bumblebee. Movie Bee was a warrior and a badass, a nice upgrade from G1. Animated Bee was annoying and a smartass.

Jetfire of ROTF infamy. Sure his G1 counterpart was underutilized, but suffering through the indignity of being a rusted old bot who farts, and for some reason teleports...

Agreed on both counts. I also couldn't stand the fact that everytime the Dinobots showed up it was just so they could job horribly to whoever they were fighting. For such large and imposing Transformers, they were complete and total pushovers. Budiansky's Dinobots were pretty terrible, too.

I'll also agree with Energon Ironhide and add in pretty much everyone else on Energon's cast, with the possible exception of Snowcat (loved that yodeling maniac). Beast Machines is another series that deserves pretty much all of its characters mentioned here, too (Rhinox :cry )

And finally, Animated Prowl. Oh, how I effing hated Animated Prowl. Every time he opened his mouth I just wanted to strangle him. So happy with how he ended up at the end of season 3.

G1 Cartoon Shockwave. There's a reason almost every other version of him has been based on the Marvel Comics version instead.
