In my zeal to reclaim my lost collection, I finally aquired the original Megatron. Boy...what a lousy lookin' bot! It got me thinking, what G1's had the absolute worst transformation/bot modes. Discuss amongst yourselves
well considering that it was the 80's, at the time, g1 megatron, you'd probably consider him one of the better molds lol. but compare him with todays, and he's pretty much junk and throttlebots, i love the throttlebots, they were the first 4 transformers i ever got, when i was a kid lol. some of the few g1's i got new too. they look simple, but they aren't all that bad lol they're fun to play with at least. worst i would have to say, would have to be broadside, basically, you just stand him up, and he's a robot, lay him down, and he's an aircraft carrier, turn him around, and he's a jet lol. little to no transformation here, at least with the throttles, they were more complex then broadside lol!
It doesn't get worse than the Firecons. Hate on the Throttlebots all you want, but they look like MP figures next to the Firecons.
While I can count the number of G1 toys I've ever owned on one hand. I'm going to have to say wheelie.
Give this man an award. I'd have to say that in addition, Rodimus Prime was a giant crap bucket. The duocon's were inventive, but sucked so bad. Then there's the jumpstarters and Wheelie. I never liked Kup much, either. So yeah.
Ironhide/Ratchet's saving grace is the vehicle mode- other than this, the figure must have disappointed countless children who expected a figure with a head. The Duocons are better than the others- while the articulation is zero, it was sort of cool to have a Decepticon that could break in half without damaging the toy in response to being hit by an enemy laser blast or missile. It was cool when you were seven and managed to find both halves of the figure at a garage sale, at any rate.
