I know this might be a tough one. I'm tempted to say Skyfire/Jetfire, however, I'm going to go with Blaster because his toy is scaled so poorly. He's HUGE! He has a few notches above Bruticus.

I'd say Ratchet and Ironhide but really they were toy-to-cartoon translations. Same with Jetfire.

There was no cartoon-to-toy conversion for G1. That's the equivalent of the (not all there mentally) chicken turning into the egg. Thread fail.

    AAAHHH!

Cue rant over one of my pet hates....

The G1 toys were NOT based on that damn cartoon. The cartoon was based on the toys. Therefore, technically, the cartoon "got it wrong" and we should be all boo-ing and laughing at its inaccuracies.

So, the worst toy-to-cartoon conversion... probably Ironhide and Ratchet. They got proper heads. WTF Sunbow!?!? You so lame.

The G1 cartoon gave Bumblebee a human-like face. He looked so much cooler with the visor and mouthpiece.

This. Movie toys didn't even have the excuse of existing before the toon drawings; they were designed after the character models were created. And this was the closest they could get?! :lol

To be fair, none of the other movie toys were exactly close either.

Well... consider this... many toys still sell because of the character shown in the show etc, but don't sell because of the toy itself.... newer example e.g Cybertron Backstop. Crap toy but ok character in the series.

Else I must say G.1 Megatron. Toy kinda resembles the cartoon character. I always wanted the toy to have that darn barrel straightened up to his back like in the cartoon. Toys' face is no where near Megatron in the cartoon.

Jetfire to Skyfire, for obvious reasons.

    Astrotrain and Broadside.

How the hell do you scale that?! They're toys seem to be the only ones that are scaled in robot mode with their class size...

Well, we could make the thread entirely about the '86 movie. Those were cartoon-to-toy,

Well, for the first 2 seasons anyway. I'm not entirely sure, but I think the Movie toys were made after Dery designed the characters (how else to explain the terrible face sculpts on Hot Rod, Kup, and Blurr?)

Ratchet and Ironhide definitely get the vote. Honorable mention to Broadside and Galvatron

Megs' character model was based on the below image from Microchange catalogues rather than his toy, somewhat inexplicably since the toy had existed for years before the cartoon.

G1 was toy to cartoon. Now season 3 cast was cartoon to toy and pretty much all of those were meh.

Rodimus Prime - he transforms from an okay caravan into an award for crappy articulation. Galvatron also looks nothing like his animation model, other than an orange cannon on his arm and a vague crown motif.

84-85 don't count for reasons that are much lamented, sure the cartoon got it wrong, but I am glad they did. The comics got it "right" for a few issues and it looked awful.
