Do certain design elements for transformers bug anyone else?

I hate the weapons for hands elements. If they want to make toys like that they should add the weapon as a snap on option. Even worse is transformers with both hands as weapons.

I hate when weapons can't store inside the vehicle mode. It looks stupid when there's a random gun sticking off of an otherwise fine car mode. I also hate when robot parts are clearly visible in alt mode.

Accessory parts with no home in one mode continue to bug me. The Valdigus/Ruination remould of Bruticus is especially annoying in this respect as Takara went to great lengths to ensure the small individual weapons all combine, and the ramp can fit on the combined mode's back, but the chest piece for Dolrailer/Mega-Octane is left with nowhere to go.

Hands that face inward. In this day an age when wrist swivels are so common why do they exist!? Leader Starscream, an already amazing toy, would be doubled in awesome if his hands swiveled.

Other than that I'd say high knees. I few figures recently have the knee joint placed too high up on the leg, making posing awkward and play difficult.

I hate weapon hands. I hate them. I will make a few exceptions, and sometimes it can be overlooked because the overall figure is great (HA Bumblebee).

I don't like when weapon/accessories do not have a place to go. They tend to get lost, as I am a messy dumbass.

I gotta agree with weapon hands. I dont mind when a figure has a weapon hand that can transform into a hand and you can choose how to display them.

I absolutely detest when a toy's ability to roll is hindered by kibble. See RTS Jazz and his gun.

actually that piece can attach fine on rollbars port for his cannon in alt mode. Thats where my chest piece is attached right now.

Talking about this thread I hate it when the spring loaded weapons activate by themselves....its annoying..

    *tries that*

You sir, are a legend! :D  Cue 5 chest sections becoming 5 kneepads.

Movie 1 Starscream/Thundercracker are guilty of this. Especially with 12 missiles each, all of them designed to hit the holder in the eye.

    1. I know a lot of people like it, but I hate light piping. Give me painted eyes any day!

    2. "Real firing missiles!" I find they mostly look rediculous. I much prefer molded pistols etc.

    3. Lights and sounds. Annoying, repetetive, and the batteries and electronics take up valuable transforming real estate. Box open, batteries out!

Yup, Brooticus wants to suck the fun from your toys!!!

    1. overly sensitive electronic features.

    2. Figures built around gimmicks to the point the figure is ruined.

    3. Overly frustrating Transformations.

Figures that sacrifice articulation for gimmicks would have to be my biggest pet hate design wise. Air Attack Optimus Primal would have been so much better without the missile firing gimmick in his arm. Even Supreme Cheetor would have been improved without losing all usable articulation in one arm for a missile launcher, and articulation in the other arm's wrist for a spring-out claw.
    THIS. A thousand times this.

    - gimmicks ; which always eat away at the main engineering of a TF.
    - robots with airplanes for backpacks.

Lights and sounds are not necessary for me to enjoy transformers.

I know I am a minority here but,

Planes and jets do not need fold out landing gear. Use that extra money saved on developing and implementing them by adding more paint apps or other joints.

I can't stand it when they expect parts to be held in place by friction alone (like RTS Jazz's chest, to use a recent example). It is an invitation for those parts to be floppy as hell and there's simply no excuse for not making things peg together solidly.

Energon Bulkhead/Quickstrike was infamous for that as well, if I recall correctly; see also WFC Megatron where the missile trigger is right above the cannon's attachment point.

How about we just call it inconveniently-placed triggers?

fishdirt, I hate that mold too, the left hand is suck in a suck position, needed a wrist joint to make it better, and the barrel is a pain to deal with.

the whole no hand/arm thing bugs the hell out of me, the dlx Megs fron the Classics line is one that is ruined because there is no hand.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.

    If you aren't, hyperbole much?

(Besides, this thread is about "design", not "deco".)
