    Worst:
    1. Batman and Robin, easily.
    2. The Dolph Lundgren (sp?) Punisher- they couldn't even get the costume right, and it's just a big skull on a shirt!
    3. Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. If you haven't seen this travesty...don't.
    4. Elektra
    5. Supergirl.
Dishonorable mention: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

    Best:
    5. Superman 2. Kneel before Zod! Nobody spinning earth backwards to turn back time.
    4. X-Men- particularly because of the Magneto prologue
    3. Batman Begins- The Frank Miller and Jeph Loeb influences were great.
    2. Batman- I'm a big fan of Tim Burton and Jack Nicholson.
    1. Spider-Man- I don't remember enjoying a movie more in theatres than this one.

Honorable Mention: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the first live-action one).

All I know is that Batman & Robin wins the "worse" (shouldn't it be worst?) category, hands down.

Worst? Nothing can hold a Candle to the Captain America film. Dolph's Punisher, FF2, Batman and Robin, nothing. Cap was just terrible.

Best? Tough choice. I'd either go with the original batman, batman Begins, or Spider-man 2. But that'll all change next year.

Bear in mind that these are out of the ones I have seen.

    Worst 5:

    Batman and Robin
    Batman Forever
    Elektra
Superman IV (I think, is that the one where he throws all the nukes into the sun?)
Nick Fury (I only saw half of it though, I fell asleep)

    Top 5:

Spiderman - yes the first one
    Batman Begins
    Tim Burton's Batman
X-Men - again the first one
and.... people are going to think I'm nuts, but - Hulk- I loved it and saw exactly the point they were trying to get across. Though I do understand why a lot of people wouldn't like it.

    Worst:

Elektra (can you hear the barrel being scraped?)
    Superman IV
    Captain America
    Batman and Robin
    Spiderman 3 (sorry!)

    Best:

    Batman Begins
    X-Men
    X-Men 2
Superman Returns (yes, I liked it)
    Batman (1989)

I expect the 'best' list will change next summer! Also, has anyone been able to get hold of the unreleased 1994 Fantastic Four movie? Rumoured to be quite dire.

My lists are only including movies I've actually seen. I tend to avoid films that got extremely bad reviews, so that's why stuff like Electra, Catwoman etc aren't on here; I haven't seen them. Both lists in no particular order:

    Worst

V For Vendetta - Hugo Weaving gave an excellent performance as the main character, but the rest of the movie was a mess. Natalie Portman has no acting talent whatsoever and I'm amazed she can actually get work. The story was so different from the original material, I honestly wonder whether the Wachowskis read anything more than a plot summary (I'm not a stickler for being close to the source, but they were way off here). The worst part, though, was that they completely missed the point of the story and turned it into another "OMG Bush teh sux!!" parable. I fully understand why Alan Moore was so pissed off about this one.
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - I don't really care about Tom Sawyer being in the film (which seems to be the main complaint I hear from people), but this is another case where it seems like the script writers only read a one-sentence plot summary of the original material. Connery did a good job with the material, but the rest of the performances were terrible and it was just a mess.
Batman and Robin - This one really speaks for itself.
Superman I and II - Going to just count these together, since I have the same complaints about both. I know I'm in the minority by not liking these, but I thought they were both absolutely terrible. They were too long, the acting was garbage, the dialogue was atrocious, the plots were boring, etc. I actually can't think of a single redeeming feature to either of these films. Superman's various weird powers bugs me a little, but I can accept it given that the character's abilities have undergone some changes over the years.
Fantastic Four II - I actually didn't mind the first movie, but this one was a mess. The first half hour was a complete waste of time and the whole thing felt way too long...which shouldn't be the case for a movie that only ran about 90 minutes. Not to mention the atrocious acting. About the only things I liked were the effects for the Silver Surfer and the reinterpretation of Galactus.

    Dishonourable mentions - X-Men trilogy, Spider-Man 1, Spider-Man 3

    Best

Batman Begins - I had one minor quibble with the pseudo-science in this (and Katie Holmes was awful), but otherwise this film was perfect. They nailed everything about the character, the dialogue was great, the development of the gadgets was more realistic and convincing, they managed to have multiple villains and it actually worked, etc. With the exception of The Dark Knight, I don't see anything coming along to unseat this as my favorite superhero film.
Spider-Man 2 - I'm not a fan of the Spider-Man franchise, or Marvel's films in general, but Alfred Molina did such a great job as Dr Octopus that it overshadowed all the sappy, melodramatic Peter-MJ nonsense that bogged down the rest of the film.
Superman Returns - Not a great film, and suffers from borrowing continuity from I and II. However, Kevin Spacey did a good job as Luthor, the campy nonsense from the first two was gone and there were some neat scenes. Not outstanding, but better than a lot of superhero movies.
Hellboy - I thought the ending was anticlimatic, but otherwise a fun film and great performance by Ron Perlman (?) in the lead role.
Transformers (2007) - What the hell, I'll count this as a "superhero" movie. Rather weak acting and it dragged in the middle, but the action and special effects were excellent.

I'll only list the ones I've seen, though I am sure films like Catwoman, Electra, and Captain America should be on the list:

    Worst 5:
    1) Superman 4
    2) Superman 3
    3) Batman & Robin
    4) Batman Returns
    5) Supergirl
Dishonorable Mention: Hulk.. and if I had seen Superman Return it'll be on this list. Heard so many bad things about it that I stayed away.

    Best 5:
    1) Spider-Man 2
    2) X-Men 2
    3) Spider-Man
    4) Edit: 300 is comic book movie not superhero.. therefore I pick X-Men instead
    5) Batman Begins
Honorable Mention: Fantastic Four Rise of Silver Surfer

I am sure Iron Man will make it on the list for sure. Looks like a winner.

    Best: Spider-Man 2

    Worst: The Hulk

There really is no contest regarding the worst, IMO. Nothing in my mind can come close to the mess that was this movie. It was very nearly the first and only movie I ever walked out on in theatres.
