Workers Riot At Hasbro Nerf Factory
thats bad, hasbro should make sure the people who make their toys are paid properly... thats sad
If what I've heard is true these factories are sub-contracted to make toys by Hasbro. That is Hasbro doesn't own the factory, Hasbro doesn't employ the workers, and Hasbro has no direct control over their employment practices.
At least it was a Nerf factory and not like, well you get the idea.
no one thinks they get paid enough, they just waited for christmas time to riot so that they would get thier raises more easily
lars573 is right: Hasbro doesn't actually own any of those toy factories that makes toys for them. They simply sub-contracted to make the toys for Hasbro. Any employment or safety issues (such as the lead paint scare from last year), is the responsibility of the actual Chinese owners.
Though I was informed that last year the government-controlled Chinese media attempted to shift the blame for the lead paint scare to the western companies. Unfortunately one of my chinese friends actually believed it and was all patriotically angry at the west
At least the riot would be a safe riot and noone would get hurt...
Cept for the Chinese riot police busting heads.
What if they were using nerf batons?
Hope the workers get their due.
Would still hurt. Maybe even leave a mark.
That's what I was thinking, if you are thinking what I am thinking .
Nerf battle between workers and Police would have been hilarious.
Good for them is what I say.
That is exactly what I imagined when reading the title.
When I clicked I expected the headline to read "Shootout lasts for hours, over ten thousand shots fired, none injured."
Che, I'm sad at the type of comments made. These are humans like us that are being short changed by the powers that be, and all of you can only look on, point and make a joke about this. Jeez... Show some compassion for fellow humans. They're trying to get money to JUST SURVIVE, while we make money to get that super duper ultra limited edition repaint of a toy that most of you already have, but will shell out more just cause it's "rarer".
But as long as you fuel your "plastic crack" addiction, right?
Nature of the beast. This is what life is like for unskilled factory labour. It's really hand to mouth. What I'd be curious to know is whether 770 Yuan a month is low/average/high for unskilled labour.
I had a speech all made out about its the internet and yes those people are human beings yadda yadda, but the pic pretty much sums up my thoughts about your little scolding there.
