So my company worked on this HUGE project for almost nine years. Basically the biggest thing I've ever been involved with in my life. We "completed" it last year...and it's already falling apart. It's hard to say but it looks like it might not last at all.

I have to admit I feel pretty down about it. Even though I only had a small part in the whole enterprise, it still feels like I failed. :(

I get ya, but sometimes it's just not gonna work out. It's hard to really comment without knowing what the project was (which you might not want to even be allowed to expand on), but if you did you duty then it really shouldn't be on you, and really... that's just part of life as we both know quite well.

Glad to see you back on TFW in any case, though. :)

Does this have something to do with the work reference in your siggie???

YOU should hold your head up very high, you've done all that was asked of you and more, I'm sure.

Five thumbs up for you...:thumb  :thumb  :thumb  :thumb  :thumb

Don't be down. I worked on the same project and sometimes no matter how hard you try you can't get all the kinks out of it.
You never know, the kinks might work themselves out. ;)

I'm sorry, that your company wasted its time and resources on this project which is now slowly falling apart.

Perhaps in the near future a more strategized and critical thinking should come into play before the actual item becomes "alive".

Don't beat yourself up over what's happened, man - if I'm right with my speculation as to what the project is, the factors that have contributed to it going downhill are beyond your control. You are but one cog in a large apparatus - a cog that I'm sure as all hell did its individual job to the best of its ability. :thumb

Assuming I'm guessing right about what the 'project' is, you and your colleagues undoubtedly did everything that was asked of you to the best of your ability. But there's only so much you can do when so many external problems and issues with management are working against the project's success. I'm certain there's a lot of people who appreciate the efforts of yourself and your colleagues.

You know what man? Only being tangentially involved with that project, being part of the revenue stream and all, I too am upset at how things are shaking out.

True success is the measure of how hard you tried, not how well you did. If you did everything that you could to make this project work, then you should hold your head up high.

That is easier to say than actually do on a project of this size. The last large project that didn't end well left a lot of employees with a sour taste in their mouth because of the way they were treated.

Perhaps your bosses should have done more R&D on this project before they jumped right into it. Some projects should never have been started in the first place.

Its not. It should not take away from his contribution though.
