Well the numbering thing doesn't really surprise me since they did it with Nemesis Prime for the ALTs.

What pisses me off the most is the packaging itself. How they went with the STUPID FRICKEN FISHBOWL PIECE OF CRAP.

yeah, I can't believe they didnt' just reuse the orignal BT design again.

 

Even though I'm a BT completist (heck, I bought 2 of each frickin' release), unless the price is right I'm gonna have to pass on this. The half-assed packaging speaks volumes about TomyTak's future plans for BT.

Very familiar packaging on BT Black Convoy.  

Damn, the show pictures are making me like MP Megatron more, or at least care less about perceived flaws. Could use a more pronounced chin and forehead-triangles, but the toy's lookin' nice. Just need to figure out when to get one, especially since I'm in the USA, and supposedly past the window of "no orange capness" I'd really like to see a picture of orange-capped Megs, just so I can decide if it bothers me or not.

and I'm finding Atari-scream ( http://fantofan.jp/news/event/won-fes-win2007/SANY0041.jpg ) the funniest thing on earth right now. The package illustration says to me "I may be an ineffectual nearsighted scaredy-cat of a nauseous young girl, but now I'm EVIL! BWA HA HA HA!!!"

 

Talk about not putting in any effort in the packaging, but I have ALT Nemesis Prime so I don't really care  

 

Love those pics of MP-05...that's even more of a must-have for me now.

Sounds like I need to move to Japan just to get Binaltech Black Convoy and those two garage kits.

Wild rumor mongering - Binaltech relaunch? Could explain why they went to the trouble of making Black Convoy from diecast - it's a fair amount of effort just for a show exclusive.

 

I just thought I'd add that I also think the packaging is crap. I, also, was looking forward to seeing a Binaltech box.

 

It was already confirmed that he'd be packaged in bot mode weeks ago. Old news.

You might want to read the dozen or so threads going on right now that clearly say otherwise. Most, if not all, the imports of this figure into the USA will indeed still have an orange cap since being packaged in bot mode doesn't make that much of difference. It might get by some x-ray scanners, but having a clearly displayed "real" gun mode on the box art won't get by most Customs agents who do open-package inspections for security & duty claims.

Bottom line: there's going to be a world of headaches for many collectors trying to obtain this figure unaltered, so you might as well brace for it. Unless of course you live in Canada or Europe.

 

I must admit I wanted Black Convoy (diecast goodness and irrational desire to have an exclusive  ), but seeing it has made my interest melt away. I kind of understand why Takara are using the fishbowl, the original binaltech packaging is too small for the Ram and as it is a low run item they would use existing packaging abeit Hasbro's; but still this packaging is less attractive than Hasbro's.
