My opinion if an outfit has been on a character for over 50 years it's a classic and shouldn't be messed with too much. Wonder Woman is like Superman, Batman, spiderman, and so on. The look is reconized to world over by multiple generations. You can alter it, but the basics need to remain the same.

I give it about 10 or so issues until she returns to her old duds.

Good for her. The old costume was straight up sexist and exploitative. Finally this is the treatment First Lady of comic book should get.

Hope it's permanent and just not some fad because as iconic as the old costume was i think we can all agree no woman would ever fight crime dress as a stripper.

Plus , it's now going to be easy and convenient to create a live action movie without worrying that she going to like a whore in the big screen.

Don't worry lonely ,horny men, you guys still have power girl.

The costume is nearing Rob Liefeld territory. I think she NEEDS a costume change badly, but this "I'm trying to sneak into the nightclub and I'm 17 in 1991" look is NOT good. See Kingdom Come for a REAL WW costume.

Even worse is the retconned reboot "urban" history.

If that isn't a perfect example of an old, out of touch dude trying to get "hip with the kids" I don't know what is!

I don't get riled up about costume changes anymore, since everything wraps back around to some variation of the classic form at some point. Now, I mostly just shrug and say, "It's ok", unless a design really impresses me (this one doesn't).

The idea of having Diana trying to repair a damaged timeline seems a bit silly though. Shouldn't Booster Gold and Rip Hunter be able to handle that in 3 issues or so?

    Hmmm.......nah its not for me.

Maybe they should have looked at doing some kind of a superhero usable only cross between Greek armour and modern combat armour.

I guess they just destroyed the only reason why people would pick up a Wonder Woman book in the first place? :p

I doubt that, JMS and Jim Lee are sharp enougth to know that there arn't any kids reading direct market superhero comics anymore.

Makes way more sense than rolling around in a bathing suit. Considering the origins of the character I have never understood why she showed so much skin. Makes absoloutely zero fucking sense.

of course it makes more sense. doesn't mean this had any chance of sticking. too much history has built up around the swimsuit.

And with 'too much history' you mean too many guys buy this title to see an attractively drawn woman in a bathing suit in various acrobatic poses kicking ass, right? :p

quite frankly that's been true for almost all female characters in the big two for the last 30-40 years

anyway, the last time i brought wonder woman was when they offed artermis. in fact it's when i finally learned status quo is god in comics.

Its because Marston created Wonder Woman in the image of the sort of women he liked, namely ones that don't wear allot of clothes and boss men around whilst tieing them up in ropes.

Granted it makes no sense in-universe or that it stuck after the character stopped being a fetish outlet for its original creator, but what do you expect from superhero comics?

The new costume looks ok to me. I'm sure that we'll eventually get back to the old costume, for better or worse. I'm more concerned about the "new direction" storyline. It does seem kinda far fetched.

Looks like shit. I give it 11 issues.

I do like the Xena-type outfit linked above. I also liked the Donna Troy outfit from the first arc of the new series.

Fake edit - "It’s a look designed to be taken seriously as a warrior" haha, yes, all warrior women wear jackets with 80's shoulder pads.
