People are just too fucked up in the head.

Hiding behind a computer to attempt emotional damage is sad.

Just wanting to attempt damage is sad

Something about this feels silly to me... she killed herself, okay, but there is just SO much bullying that goes on offline and online.

That woman didn't "put a gun in the girls hand." If she killed herself because her fake internet boyfriend broke up with her, she wasn't ready to be on the internet.... or interact with society.

It's a strange situation... on one hand, knowing the woman's devious intentions obviously makes what she did very wrong, but all that caused the suicide was the victims e-boyfriend calling it off.

I've followed this case pretty closely and am thrilled to hear that she may get what is coming to her.

That woman deserves to be put behind bars for what she's done. Hopefully justice will prevail in this case.

I doubt she deserves 20 years in jail for that. Was it wrong, absolutely, did she cause her death though, no, if someone has emotional problems, any number of things can push them over the edge, I agree with NIDARAM12 on the issue. Lets face it, if everyone who was bullying someone over the internet got what they deserved, there wouldn't be many people left on here.

this case is based on a very thin line while I do believe she was wrong with interacting with this teen .... I dont believe prision is the best thing here as it'll just open the flood gates for countless other "Bullying" cases and really change the way things are handled. How long before parents are sue other parent because their child was bullied or felt he or she was, or a coach for coaching and a kid or parent take it the wrong way.

I think this has to be looked at in the grand scheme of things.

Pretty much. I remember this being posted quite awhile ago when it first happened. Thought it was ridiculous then and it's pretty ridiculous now.

Is the mom pretty fucking stupid for pulling this in the first place? Yes.

Does she deserve some sort of punishment? Yes.

Did she kill the teen and deserve 20 years? Nope.

To point out this isn't just about some teen killing herself, this is about a adult frauding herself on Myspace as a young male teen for the purpose of getting close to Megan.
By her own words Lori continued the online relationship with Megan even after is because sexual.
If Lori was a man would anyone think differently of the charges?

A statement taken from one of the teens involved with the faux account.

Yeah, I'm on board with this.

Hearsay. Inadmissible in court, and in oughta be inadmissible in the court of public opinion as well, seeing as how a reporter's recounting of a teenager's statement is suspect on several levels.

Uh oh, all the guys on MMORPG's claiming to be a hot girl and using a hot female elf as an avatar better watch out. They might get prison time for falsifying information to get free goods and services from horny male players.

Also, doesn't suicide mean you kill yourself? So how can you go to jail for someone else committing suicide? I know it was bad, but I've seen some doozys on the internet as far as lies go, and persuing only those that cause someone to commit suicide seems odd.

If the older woman said all those things, yet the young girl did not commit suicide, everything would be fine besides myspace being peeved about a fake account.

Don't think she deserves 20years (maybe 5-10 & a good asswoopin), but this will make a good example for other parents too keep a closer eye on thier kids when they get on the internet. And for sick people to not screw with younger minds

I think this is the key tenet here--I mean, what's the age difference? More than 20? (too lazy to go back & look) Basically, the woman should be the "responsible" one, rather than trolling MySpace and playing these high school bullshit games.
