what i mean by this is that anyone in the UK will tell you the post service in this country is a joke and today i think i almost choked on the crappyness of this counties postal service.
Today i went to post out a Diaclone Omega Supreme (AKA Omegatron) out to someone on the boards here today, now thing is ive sent at least 4 of these out to american fans already and its cost me around 17GBP (roughly over $30) yet today i went to post one out and guess what....it cost me OVER $70!! i figured the woman was joking but she wasnt!

i had no choice but to send the item as even when sent via surface mail it would have cost $60 and NOT been insured!? i cant belive how badly raped i was by these bastards at the postal service. I tried another postal service yet there costs seemed to be more than that of Royal Mail.....

I know things are bad in the postal service these days but this is a fucking joke! OVER $70 to send a package? what the hell did they think i was sending? a solid gold turd or something?

has anyone else been this abused by the postal service or have i just been scammed because when i got Fortress Maximus shipped to me from China it only cost around $40! what the hells going on!?

It's Christmas. Therefore the GPO will (and can) raise their rates, because they know people will have to send things via the post and pay their inflated prices.

Erm, yeah mate. Like, we sympathise with high postage, but when I saw the thread title my first thought was "Oh god, somebody on this board was sexually assaulted!"

Then it turned out to just be an overly dramatic thread title designed to grab people's attention. Truly For The Lose.

It's a saying people use in the US as well, and I'd bet other places too, nothing specific about it to the UK.

Point is you were being dramatic and deceptive with the thread title.

Wouldn't have "I was just raped .... by postal prices" as the thread title have gotten the point across, let you be dramatic, and not caused the concern of actual sexual assault some people felt when seeing the thread title?

Horrible title, I had my 'call the police now' all ready.

You are shipping overseas, it costs money, and since many of the international shippers are going out of business then there is no alternative. So prices are going up.

Also remember the British pound is worth shit. So now you have to pay the american side MORE to deliver your stuff.

British Pound to U.S. Dollar Exchange Rate - Yahoo! Finance

So your flimsy british money doesn't get you as far anymore. I am not sure you have any valid reason to complain. When you try to deal in international affairs and your currency drops, it costs you more money. Too bad?

I'm sorry, what? I really don't understand your point. Are you saying that when you ship overseas, sometimes the exchange rate is not what you'd like, or are you having a pop at the pound and the British economy?

    I'm playing the race card!

There isn't VAT on postage and stamps, as far as I'm aware.

Also while tax has gone down, the cost of the goods themselves are rising, so... do the math.
