So Vista updates this morning, and as soon as it does the wireless stops working on our hp notebook. Run a diagnostic and it says no network adatper is installed. Tried a system restore, tried resetting the bios and installing drivers again, but alas it hasn't helped at all. HP now tells me I need to send it in to replace the motherboard. Thing is I did some searching and found other people had the same problem immediately following the update.

Anyone know what I can do?

Did I mention I hate Vista?

Send it back, HP laptops have a record for suicidal wireless adaptors regurdless of what OS or activity is involved at time of death.

Ooh, I think I've got that update in my queue. I don't like anything to autoinstall without my permission, so it's there, but I haven't updated yet. SP1 KB936330. Perhaps I'll hold off.

This is why I stick with Windows XP until Vista doesn't suck anymore.

As usual rabidyak, I agree with you on a vista problem. HP is better than dell, but that does not mean they are great. Everyone wants to cut corners an make it cheap. Which causes problems.

Windows vista may not be a great os, but it is at least equal to xp.

At least HP has great warrenty service? right?

From my dealings with them, they will readily change faulty parts in laptops at their own expense once you've run thougth thier checklist of the obvious.

Thats the reason why I find this thread so amusing. HP know the problem and have told the dude to send it in for new mobo, yet he's blaming Microsoft and asking random internet folks for help.

Just like when I locked my keys in my house this morning, that never happened when I was using XP.

    Go Toshiba or go home.
    XP or bust.
    Mac > PC.

    That is all.
