One of the best lines from the interview...
"I'm the director. I make my own decisions. I like to paint the house green, even when everyone says it's got to be white."

Just thought it was a good read and worth posting...

    Nice article

Y'know, I was skeptical when I saw this posted - but the author hit a lot of the points about Prime, as well as the current incarnation of the franchise. Well done article, TY for posting, Codimus.

    :lolol  but so true.

The review seemed confusing. Did he praise or slam the film?

It's more like an essay about kids who grew up seeing Prime as a hero and the fear that this movie may just give Prime shiny red flames and an attitude instead of the icon children once saw him as.

    My favorite lines.

At last, in July 2004, it was decreed from the throne of Steven Spielberg: There would be a live-action remake of Transformers. (Wonder! Joy! Blogging!) A year later, another revelation: Michael Bay, best known for such Truffautian explorations of modern manhood as Armageddon and The Rock, would direct. (Rage! Spittle! Blogging!)

Good read. Makes a lot of interesting points that really are important to a lot of G1 fans. It keeps the humor while getting to the heart of the argument. Though the car chase sounds really cool.

Alright, call me nieve but why is Michael Bay supposively a bad choice? I don't think his movies suck, which is strictly my opinion yeah, but I watched Pearl Harbor with a WW2 veteran and he thought it was a good movie too.

I think the author gets some sort of pretentious jollies out of using unnecessarily large and uncommon words. Many words which say little.

I like the part about the reason the long nosed semi was chosen... I think thats one of the first times I heard that. Regardless... Bay has spoken and now all we can do is live with it.

I personally am going to love the movie. I haven't been this excited about anything like this in quite a long time.

"I didn't know there were people who'd hunt you down. I urge them to watch the 1986 animated movie, go watch the cartoon. You'll want to shoot yourself."

I can't believe I just read this. This totally proves that Bay doesnt like the transformers. I still like the movie and all but him saying that the old cartoon and movie sucked are over board. I love them and I wouldn't kill myself watching them, especially the movie.

    ================

"Optimus Prime now boasts bright orange cholo flames and — much to fans' horror — lips. "I'm the director. I make my own decisions. I like to paint the house green, even when everyone says it's got to be white."

So Bay does things that people don't like?? Can someone explain to me why he gave Optimus Prime lips? That's the worst thing of everything that has been put into the movie. Totally ruined the coolness that Prime was gaining in his movie form. I'm pretty sure the Japanese fans will be like WTF???!!!

It could be surmised that the promulgator, when utilizing unnecessarily lengthy vocabulary ad nauseum in his discourse, or consciously omitting casual local vernacular in order to appear more enlightened, more truthfully could be considered as either producing a protracted composition for the sake of expatiation, or he could be simply verbose and peremptory.

    Heh, good one, Dio.

Oh noes, thygriever has thrown down the gauntlet... I wait with baited breath as the mob with long sticks congregate around the carcass of the dead horse.
