No, not the silly gameshow.
I want this full scale!
That's pretty damn awesome, even if Quantum Levitation is a bit over my head.
^^ Was that suppose to be a pun?
Man its scary to believe that we could have 1 day floating cars.
That was cool.
Looks like fun.
People ask, it's 2010, where are our flying cars?
My answer - people are stupid enough in two dimensions...
So very true my friend.
That's not scary. What's scary is the people who might be driving them.
Yeah, we have enough issues with people driving cars that are on the ground. I think that is why we don't put a lot of effort into this technology.
But it is cool!
Oh that is freaking awesome. It's good to see that one day it might be possible to have a levitating car. Plus, the side walls might mean that one day going too fast and going off the road might not even be possible, as it seems each time the cars get too close they bounce away (either it's some sort of repulsion, or really good driving, I think the former seems more likely).
Regardless, who cares why, or how much it will cost, or how many people will be knocked over. I want one. Now.
troy barnes - what, that was awesome [Community] - YouTube
We've already got floating trains, same general concept.
Maglev Train - complete video presentation - YouTube
No shit. Obviously we have to wait until 2015 until I can get my car hover-converted for only $39,999.99.
Unfortunately, I'm going to have to burst your bubble. You've fallen for a viral marketing advertisement for WipEout 2048. The track and cars are CG. If you notice there's frames where the smoke trail actually appear before the cars pass that part of the track. As well, WipEout isn't a popular series in Japan (nor is Rock Band - which is clearly visible at the end of the video), no one will be inspired by it.
That said, this actually is possible!
yeah i was gonna say, fake as hell XD
Quantum Levitation is amazing, even the static posing looks cool.
Yeah, I thought it was fake when those little hovercars went through that near 90-degree banked turn at such a slow speed that they should have fallen off.
Although I do wish this WAS real. Because then we could potentially have F-Zero slot car racing. In fact, the whole setup looks more inspired by F-Zero's racing mechanics instead of Wipeout (because the latter barely has anything to DO with hovercars, really)
Video slow-mo how does it work?
How does WipEout barely have anything to do with hover cars? No vehicle in that franchise has tires, and given this is a Sony ad, I really doubt they were inspired by a dead franchise from the competition.
Anyways, this is actually possible, it's just that the video in question is fake.
Er...I'd say it was slow mo...until the cars proceeded to accelerate inside the near-vertical curve and down the track.
*Does google search*
OOOOOOHHHHHHH. I didn't know that game existed. Despite the first post, I thought they were actually talking about the painful-looking game show because that was the only Wipeout game I knew of.
