Had to make a do-over on my old one. The mesh was sort of messy and it was too hard to cut windows and panels and such, here is the new cleaner base mesh...

Nice work, what kind of details are you planning? :)

Somewhat off topic, but what always struck me about this design (from an engineering perspective) is the illogical placement of the engines. Those pylons would easily be sheered off by the force of the engines. Simply because a rod at 90 degrees angle cannot carry sheer loads, due to the moments, it'd just want to rotate around its attachment points... >.>

Next, due to the engines being so far of center, if one engine fails they'd have start to spin circles madly due to this gigantic force-distance to center moment. :x

    Meh. Sci-fi. xD

I always heard the engine support thing explained away as, since the warp engines actually warp space and don't provide forward momentum the supports withstanding sheer force is not a problem.

As far as details, I'm going to be cutting windows and panel lines into it, and then adding specular maps and textures to finish it out.

Good looking Connie - curious what modelling program you're using and what the poly count is.

Going to just 'decal' it as Enterprise, or are other registries in the works?

Max 2010, the polycount is... way high. I haven't checked.

I'm going to start texturing soon. She's the Enterprise for now. Might do up some other renders with other registries.

3DSMax? Cool, never had a chance to play with that one. And yeah, I'd expect a big polycount, that's no game model.

Depending on how you've got the model pieced out, you're about ready for the usual kitbashes too - the old Franz Joseph Ptolemy and Hermes/Saladin, at least. Federation uses a different engineering hull.

if there's one thing I could suggest, it's to change the color of the deflector dish, in the original show it was more of bronze/copper color.
