hi guys, just wanted to share some WIP pics before i pack these guys up and move back to the States. been living in amsterdam for a year now, and it's been somewhat difficult finding the right stores for supplies for customizing so progress has been a little slower than expected. hopefully after i get back to the States, i can finish this project within 2 months time. progress to date: - all technobots accounted for. - all can transform into alt modes. nosecone's nose has not yet been attached, nor has it been worked thoroughly into transformation. - lightspeed and strafe are without heads. they have them, but they are not yet attached, nor have they been thoroughly worked into transformation. - strafe and afterburner can form into individuals arms. - nosecone and lightspeed can form into individual legs. - scattershot/body is still being worked on but is 60% complete. - computron is without a head. anyway, here are the pics! thanks for stopping by! KO p.s. yes, nosecone's head is a little small. i might swap it out... we'll see === Update with more pics ===
Nice so far man, currently working on a more articulated variation of Warrentans (i think thats the guy that did it?) Computron using Energon combiners and Cybertron scouts, but this looks like it'll dwarf mine! Glad to see someone else is using lego as attachment points like you have on Afterburner, but my limbs so far are having difficulty staying attached when fiddled with (definitely gonna be display piece only!), and I'm using scouts for limbs, how do the connections fair a larger figure?
Oh, wow; these guys are looking awesome already. I agree that Nosecone looks so much better with the new arms, and I suggest the leave the head well alone - Topspin's looks great, and is pretty much a prefect size for him in my opinion. Scattershot's G1 parts appear to be working perfectly with the Silverbolt mould. Looking forward to seeing how you tackle his nose cannon. And excellent choice of figure for Afterburner too. I assume you'll be filling out those spiderweb patterns with putty or something?
Loving everything about this so far! I was thinking of Marvel Crossovers for these guys already, but you've really got it figured out! Can't wait for more! zmog
fwk yeah! we hardly ever see terrorcons or technobots. whose heads are you using for these guys? too bad that webbing cant be removed, but i think these are sweet nonetheless. confused about how scattershot will center in the merging process but keep em coming. can we see the other two technos?
first off - thanks everyone for the well-wishes and positive critique. i do appreciate your collective input. i've added some additional pics per your various requests. i know, me too.... i couldn't stand those behemoth arms on the figure. the only time i feel it's worked out great is on the various customs i've seen on this site, and also the incredible mecha-zangief that someone did with the mold. i couldn't believe i didn't get to bid on that one on ebay. gah!! that and shinbotron's longhaul are the two hauls that i really missed out on. yeah, i think legos are great to work with. i think a ton of people on the boards will agree with me you are right in the joints can get iffy with a little fiddle. i tried relying on those solely for my g1 devastator project, and learned a lesson in doing so. the lego female pieces being used are merely base connecting spots. the bulk of the arm will be held in place by an extension from the elbow connector. see image: hope that helps here's how the nose cannon works - complete alt mode, actually. when i said the body was 60% done, i meant computron's body and not scattershot's. sorry for that. the nose is fully attached, with rigid reinforcements via epoxy inside. as for the webbing, i probably will fill in it. i wanted to a test paint app to see how it looked first, but i think it will eventuate into me going over it with goo. scattershot's head - g1 scattershot strafe's head - not sure what this guy's name is... got the bot in a junker lot and thought it resembled this - nosecone's head - g1 topspin lightspeed's head - g1 hungrrr probably, but modded so it's a bit more squarish around the ears afterburner's head - g1 hungrrr, but will also be modded to be a bit more squarish in terms of merging - scattershot will sit in something similar to powermaster prime's armor. the armor piece will have connecting shoulder parts and knees to connect to the other guys, a la' unicron (dodges tomato). and here are the rest of the technobots and their alt modes: thanks for stopping by! KO
again, thank you everyone for the kind words. all of you have inspired me in some way, shape, or form. unfortunately, i do not have any computron pics. once i get back to the States, i'll get to it cheers, KO
oops! thought i did in the earlier post. here it is - he is a parts-former as his front wheel has to be removed and then reattached. i experimented with a system that would allow seamless transformation but just couldn't get it right. once my kitbashing skills improve, i'm sure i'll be able execute this better. but for now, it is what it is thanks, KO
Here's an idea 2 try. On crossovers ghost rider the front wheel is attached to the arm when in robot mode. The figure ie kinda rough lookin but maybe u could use that particular part of GR. Again just an idea. Also i used neoshifters for my devy it's about 36"
