After carefully studying this guy for weeks, I finally figured out where to put the LEDs, batteries, wiring and switches in there. It's my first ever LED job and I'm thinking I really, really didn't pick the easiest bot to work with. Still, I'm pretty proud of my work so far. I'm not done with him yet; I still have to paint some details and maybe some other stuff too. Here are a few pictures for you guys. I'm not the WIP pics type of guy, but I couldn't wait to show him off :D

    Thoughts, comments so far?

Also, expect much, much better pics when he's done!

Nice! I'm assuming you're doing the foot mod so you don't have to worry about the headlights moving around?

The actual headlights stay on the wings regardless of the foot mod, but your suggestion may allow more room for wires and such!

All in all I say great job!! Glad to see people pushing themselves to the next level! Now all we need is eyes and blades!:thumbs2:

Fantastic so far! Could you pls pls pls post a few pics showing how you set up the batteries/lights/wiring? I'm looking to do the same mod but can't decide what the best way of putting all the innards in would be....

Everyone, thanks for the nice comments!

I'm currently trying to come up with a better way to set up everything inside Sideswipe. The work I had done so far gave good results, but the execution wasn't to my liking. If I ever finish it, I'll explain exactly how I went about doing it. Patience my friend ;)

I don't know about anyone else, but so far I've just gone to the dollar store and cannibalized whatever I found I could use! Still need a soldering iron, though...

Batteries, wiring, switches, LEDs...everything came from dollar store type items. It's much cheaper than buying them from Radio Shack.

One crazy thing that happened to me though..I was sorting out my supplies and when I put all my batteries (cell) together, some sort of contact was made between them (they were touching) and they all became hot. The longer I'd leave them touching, the hotter they became. To the point where I had to separate them because it could've been dangerous. So now I have no way of storing my batteries. You guys might wanna watch for that when storing a good quantity of batteries together.
