You think people complain about the price now? What do you think they'd do then? With the expense of a whole new design only being spread out over about 2,000 toys, it'd be a $500 box with only one toy in it.
Seriously?? Wow, that's some serious peg-warming! I'm surprised they haven't all been scooped up for MP Swoop customs already. I think that even this mold untouched (or with a new head) would have made a more fitting Overlord than the Botcon homage from the Bludgeon mold. Of course, it would have been a bit too similar to the Darkwind version... zmog
That doesn't make much sense. If Hasbro were to introduce a whole new design, selling about 2,000 units, they would design it in such a way that with a redeco, or slight remould, they could later release it as a new character. For example, they could release a new and improved (and larger) Seeker mould, perhaps Sunstorm, and then slowly release it as Skywarp, Starscream, Thundercracker, Acid Storm, Air Warrior, give the Blue and Yellow Rainmakers names and biographies. Another example would be a sigh SG Hoist, who could later be released as Trailbreaker, and then Hoist. Perceptor is supposed to be remoulded into Reflector, and he could easily (and has been customised) into Soundwave too. If you're going to do the new mould thing, it has to have a mass release later, and that means you can't do it for one off characters. Like they'd never introduce a Deluxe Insecticon at Botcon.
the wings kinda remind me of the open chest doors on the original, painting them white would pull the deco together
But that would make the Botcon toy still a repaint. His complaint was that BOTCON ( not Hasbro ) needs to do a new figure. Meaning it would be a Botcon original mold. Doing what you suggest would not satisfy his complaint.
Getting bigger magnets, and changing the position on them. These will hold the legs on and allow him to stand though. The new ones should allow some poseing, though this mold is pretty limited in that regard.
He's looking awesome. It's a much cheaper alternative to buy in classic one too! Can't wait to see the final product.
