ok, so this kinda my first kitbash... well, my first substantial one at least, lol. i've been working on this for about a month here and there.. life's got me busy but i hope to complete it, paint and all, by the end of the month. it's about 90% done. the schematics are all done, some of the final parts just need to be built. but anyways, enuf with the babble. comments and critiques are most welcome. (and yes, i know the arms are kinda stubby (>_\) - KO
Wow, that's some really creative kitbashing. I'd love a G1 Ironhide that a) looks like 'toon Ironhide b) transforms c) has "classics" style articulation d) isn't E. Towline (not bashing those who've done it). That head sculpt works better on him than on Astrotrain if you ask me. I have some questions if you don't mind answering: How are you going to fill in the gaps on the sides? Is there more to the feet, or are they just the roof panels folded out? Know what I mean? Is there a solid foot under there? Lastly, what happens to the rear wheels/bumper section when he's in 'bot mode? Keep us updated, please!
yeah, I wanna know where the rear end goes. definitely deserve some credit for your inginuity though.
thanks for the compliments, everyone so late and we're all still up, heheh. that's what i was going for too. abcd - all of the above. the gaps on the side of the van are going to be filled by lengthening the chassis parts surrounding the chest and calf pieces. as for the feet - they are gonna be hollow, but the sides are gonna be sealed so u dont see the space inside. it's very well balanced ^_^ the rear bumber section is kinda cool in that it is a removable piece that can either remain where it's at (it plugs into the hip) or it can be removed (as seen in the pic) and plugged into the exterior of his calves to give him a more beefrier, robust look. again, much thanks for the encouragement.
Hey! This is one hell of a kitbash!!!! I new somebody would take the time to make a more G1 Ironhide! His body is more proportioned then when using Tow-Line This my man, kicks many asses!!! I love it!! Keep it up!
Some constructive crits: Make the bumper parts non-removable in some way, removable bot parts hurt TFs IMO. The arms seems a tiny bit stumpy - can they be lengthened at all, or maybe the shoulders can be lowered? Other than those minor issues, I can't wait to see the final product.
Looks verrrry promising... hope it all works out. I know what it's like when you've got something 90% figured out, but that last 10% keeps slapping you in the face. Keep us posted! zmog
This is the Ironhide all of us have had dirty thoughts about . Keep up the fantastic work and he'll be "Kickin' some tailpipe" in no time.
I like it, but I think the arms are tad short. He would have better proportions if his hands ended at about mid-thigh.
thanks again everyone for all the kind words (^_\) as for the bumper, it can remain attached at all times throughout transformers. i just think it can look cooler elsewhere, lol. but yeah, the arms are a bit stub. i was thinking of raising the entire chassis, in effect lower the shoulders to make them 'appear' longer. this will require a lot of remodding tho cuz the fit is so tight, but i'll see what i can do ^_^ i'll definitely change it for ratchet tho. thnx again ko
Or perhaps you could scratch build some forearms over the current arms that act as "sleeves" that can extend. I may have the transformation wrong, but it looks as though you still have a bit of real estate to work with in van mode. It would be a shame to have a piece with so much potential fall short because of the arms.
His arms are a bit stubby. Maybe you could lower the shoulders somehow? Otherwise, GENIUS! You better be doing Ratchet after this.
Awesome. I was so all about mine I did from Tow-Line, but this blows it away. Awesome, AWESOME JOB MAN. Can't wait to see it finished....
