WIP: Classics/Universe Dead End. * Updated With New Pics! *

OK peeps, this is my second attempt at a kitbash/repaint and is far from finished, but I thought I'd share it.

Made a very small start on this at Auto Assembly and it's taken me over a month to get to this stage!!

He started life as Sideswipe and is pretty much a straight repaint, other than a slightly remolded head and the removal of his roof/front windscreen whilst in bot mode. I decided to remove the roof in order to give him a slightly different look to 'Swipe. (This will become a shield when I'm done!)

Here's a couple of shots of the head. Just shortened his 'ears', removed bits either side of his chin and added the three ridges to the top of his head. (Used some plumber repair putty from a £1 shop!)
Also removed the blue light piping and made a red one from scratch. (Gonna redo this as I'm not happy with the result.)

Fairly happy with him so far, but not quite sure about his colour. Maybe could do with being a tad darker/more red. Obviously the white bit on his chest will be painted eventually.

The last pics show a couple of bits that have had a clear cote, which show how it will turn out when done. (Bit more glossy.)

What do peeps think? Colour suitable for Dead End or not?

    Will post an update.........eventually!!

Not bad. Not bad at all.

Any other changes planned for the alt mode?

I think it looks real good. My only criticism is since i'm a cartoon fan, would be to give him a mouthpiee, but either way, your work is great

Done a bit more work on him, just uploading some pics now. Will show progress soon!

Not really. Other than filling in the holes on his roof and making it smooth rather than ridged as it is on the SS/SS figures.

Cheers Hig! Looking better now though!

No plans at the moment, but who knows. Maybe in the distant future! (Even a fairly simple repaint takes me ages, plus I'm still a beginner!)

    Cheers.
Didn't even realise he had a mouthpiece in the toon though to be honest! Just been using my G1 figure as a reference point.

    :thumbs2:

Back soon with some update pics!

    OK, updated pics.

Please note that he still needs a lot of small touches doing, including but not limited to:
    Paint over 'Swipe' number plate!
Re-do the light piping/alter head a bit more.
Some detail on his chest, rather than all black.
Attach the roof/shield to his arm in bot mode.(Prob use magnets.)

Here's his new roof which will become a shield in bot mode. Filled in the holes for the rocket booster, which will not be used, Smoothed off the roof 'ridges' and repainted the windows. (Especially pleased with the front window, really smooth and reflective!)

nice, that roof is a thing of beauty, and the masking you did is top notch, very good for a "beginner" i think you are getting quite good at painting and modding already

This is looking really good. Aside from Dragstrip, this mold works for the three other Stunticons better than the Prowl or Rodimus molds. Nice work

    Cheers matey!
Might add a rubsign, if I can remember where I put the ones I got from Repro-labels. :D

Gotta give a lot of credit to the airbrush! And the fact that I take a long time to do anything on my bashes.

Thanks! Will probably do Wildrider at some point from the same mold.

Just taken a few pics of the alt mode, unfortunately I gave him a bit of a battering trying to transform him, so he needs a few more touch ups now! :mad
I didn't realise that I'd put the arm side panels/doors on the wrong arm when I switched 'em. Was trying to force 'em to line up in alt mode before having to remove 'em again, which is a bit awkward!

    Anyway, here he is:

I think your work is absolutely slamming! I don't think the alt mode lends itself to Dead End all that well, but it's not bad. I think if you lose the spoiler, it'd help just a tiny bit. I'd like to see a faceplate, but I can certainly understand why you went the non-faceplate route as well (and I think that's cool).

Anyways, you've really done some super-slick work, man; thanks for sharing! :thumb
