That was me. It's all opinion, and that was the look I was going for. It looked a lot better in person, and the pictures made the pink lighter and brighter than wat it actually is in person. Honestly, if the kitbasher is happy with the way the kitbash turned out, everybody else should respect that and not complain about it. I'm not trying to creat an argument here, but, some people take it a bit too personal when it comes to G1 homages in kitbashes.
^ Indeed. If its yours, and you like it, then go for it. As for me, I dig the contrast between Purple and orange
It's looking damn tasty so far... and that's a lot of 'bots salvaged for him. Broken stuff, or are you just being ruthless? This is just one of many 'bashes I've started and need to finish...
Excellent, I was hoping for Shockwave in Classics 2.0 but I don't think that will happen. Your bash fills that hole in my heart ^^
While I'm working on Fort Max the second, I'm also working on this again. I've sprayed black Krylon fusion on the parts that needed it the most. And, I've since acquired some Gundam hands (non-articulated), which is what I'm using now. The hand is on there temporarily with blue-tack, just for the pictures. Next weekend, the Krylon will be at full strength, and I' start with the painting proper.
I'm curious why you didn't just use the hand already attached to Megatron's right arm, actually - it'd mean he'd still be able to hold stuff in his hand. Unless you just prefer the open-hand look... Yeah, I think it's a slim enough chance that it's worth having a go at your own if you want him. And Energon Shockblast is close enough that it doesn't have to be a complicated bash if you don't want it to be. I've even left his right arm with the claw - he's still got a 5mm hole at the 'thumb' joint, so he can hold standard weapons if you want. All you really need to do is find a suitable replacement for his left cannon arm, and with a little imagination, there's a ton of possibilities.
The latest update! The main body of Shockwave is almost complete. He only needs some minor touch ups here and there, and I still need to figure out the best way to attach the Gundam hands. For now, the ML Modok hand I'd originally altered is in place. I have to do a bit of sanding on the arm-shield so that it doesn't scuff the paint, but its otherwise ready to go. I also have to work on the energon-sword, and work out removable attachment for it. I also have to finish painting the tank-tread "backpack" section for use in the alt-mode. Comments are welcome
Randy, I have to say firstly, I'm not a fan of this mold at all. I traded mine off soon after I got it. With that aside, this is the first custom I've seen of this mold that has gotten me to actually want the mold again. As an artist, I feel if you can evoke that feeling into another, you can pack it up and call it a good day's work I can't wait to see what you have in store for the alt mode as well. Great job BTW, your website rocks as well! I can definitely see Bart Sears' influence on your work. Would you perchance be a fan of Brian Bolland's work as well? The similarities in both of your guys' illustrative style would be very coincidental if you weren't. Keep on rockin' in the free world buddy
