A little something I'm working on...Bob is made mostly from old Zoids, but the small hands are from some mini-figure of Animated Prowl that I found. I intend on adding a few spikes and adding a scratchbuild styrene head and rocket boosters. EDIT: Started work on Bob's noggin. EDIT 2: Reworked the eyes, cut the hands to give Bob three fingers, and did a bit of work on the mouthplate. EDIT 3: Finished! Abandoned the idea of the rocket boosters on his back, but overall I'm happy with the outcome. I may revisit him later on, do some tweaking.
THATS F'en fantastic hahahaha i had been wondering if someone was thinkging about this, i had toyed with the idea of making the swarm a few times, look forward to seeing him completed
That looks sweet so far...Out of curiosity, do you know what some of the Zoids kits you took pieces from are? Can't wait to see the finished product!
Thanks! I used Saicurtis for the main body, Gorilla Tron for the back legs and the neck, and and Cannon Spider for the front legs.
That's awesome...those later-model US Z-builder kits have some usefulness after all! I have an old Saicurtis I was going to EBay...I might have to hold onto it to try this recipe someday myself! Please post more pics when you're further along!
I finally found a hobby store within 50 miles of me that sold styrene. I got what little they had and started work on Bob's noggin. This is the first time I've ever worked with the stuff, and I gotta say that I'm loving it. I know the head's not perfect...especially the eyes...but there's a lot of work left to do on it. I added some new pics in the first post.
Awesome work on the new head---out of curiosity (as I've never worked with styrene before, do you assemble it in sheets for different pieces, or carve it out of one big block?
I assemble out of different pieces. Most of it's styrene that's glued together, some of it's wood, and some of it is whatever I can find. Last night I finished the mouth grill, cut the hands to give him three fingers, redid the eyes, and added a bit of detail to the antenna bases. I'm going to pick up some guitar string from work tonight to finish the antenna.
