i want to make the feet either do this (would require parts-forming, build a peg and hole inside the wings)

or this with some sort of joint to make it flip out

this is the space and detail shots of it:

any help would be greatly appreciated, when i cut the wings i did so with an exacto blade so there wasn't a bunch of plastic loss making a gap,

everything fits back together perfectly, i do not like the way the wings look without the tips on them, and it leaves too big of holes in the alt mode, so i want them to go back to where they came from for alt mode and bird mode,

i would want the hinge embedded into the major portion of the leg like so, the top of the hinge would stick through the alt mode, but i don't think it would look too bad when painted

Try a wooden furniture shop. Like an Amish shop.

i had a set from a pair of sunglasses, but there were two small problems, one side was beveled and didn't fit snug, and the second one broke while trying to get it off the glasses

i'll see if there is one of those shops here

EDIT bot mode with parts-forming option

Personally I think it looks good with the hinge. And by looking at the pic he looks good.

GMfan101 on cybertron mentioned a 3-point pivot system, might be a good choice as well,

I like the look of the parts formed leg set up a lot, but I think would prefer the other setup with the hinge....

As for a hinge source, try and find some Dubro Hinges. A good Hobby store should have them, or at least be able to get you some. Used primarily in model aircraft I believe. I've used them before, and they work great, esp for something like this with such small areas to work with.

thanks PK, brainstorming last night we figured out a third option, removing the "feathers" and adding in a 3-point pivot, using the real gears cell phone's arms (hopefully) i like the looks of the legs with the parts in that position as well, it just looks cleaner
