My top choice would be the SDCC version, but if that is to difficult to get, or ridiculously expensive, then I'll get the retail one, and paint away the colors I don't like.
At least having the "wrong" one at retail is a step up from some exclusive being the only way to get the character. I'd gladly take a "wrong" version of Sgt Slaughter, Zarana, Runabout or Runamok at retail. Really didn't have a problem with the mass release Seekers being a bit different than the Seekers in the con set years ago. As to the topic and Bruticus right now I'm looking at having to buy the set three times. One to display combined as Bruticus because I don't have many huge Transformers in my collection, hey too poor to buy exclusives too poor to buy 3rd party. One set as individual robots because my Decepticons are vastly outnumbered. Then a third set because I'm betting my nephews would love to have their first combiner this Christmas. Honestly my only real problem at this point is picking a color. The Comic Con set might be too hard to get. Then there is a the worry of what if we see even more color options. But heck I'm so happy to see a combiner at retail I'll learn to live with whatever colors I can get.
I'm not interested in Bruticus itself since the transformation looks terrible. But I will get the combaticons and keep them in bot form for the most part. But it's "Show accurate" Combaticons or nothing at all. So it's Hasbro's call.
I will try my best to get the SDCC version, but I will probably get the main line release if I can't. I'm also not that into the G2 colors... I really want to support the combiners for Hasbro, even if this is a little weaker than others. My best hope is that a third party comes out with an upgrade kit, particularly with a new Voyager Onslaught.
Not too sure at this point. Not waiting with anticipation, but I may change my mind once it hits shelves.
I think with the overwhelming majority preferring the game accurate colors, it is entirely possible for a 3rd party company to reprorduce parts to make him a) Look game accurate &/or b) Look better.
I'll be getting, at the minimum, the SDCC and G2 versions. I'll honestly probably still end up picking up the retail version, just for completeness. The good thing about combiners is that should you end up with more than one version, you can display one of those versions as individual bots and get the most bang for your buck.
I'll get one, or two to repaint, I have a feeling that Vortex will look a lot nicer once painted grey and blue.
I'll be trying to get every variation. The fact that (true) combiners are being done again still surprises me, and that alone makes me at least want to buy them to support it.
i'll take it if you don't like and i can't get it on HTS same here. i'm gonna get the SDCC set and pick up an extra Vortex at retail to repaint him.
