I was thinking about this as I was trying to fit the peg of the door on to the top of the car of my Alt Hot Rod. Since most of these new TFs, especially MPs and Alts, are pretty much collector's only lines, what is the likelyhood that we'll see these at someone's yard sale? Or a flea market? I think the days of finding something kickass like a C8 G1 Prime are pretty much over.

I've already seen a couple original box (very tattered) Alt Smokescreens at a flea market before. I took note of it because I went to the flea market looking for TF's and those were all I saw all day. This was about a year ago.

Rework will see them all. MISB. And for a song. No one else will ever find any. That's the way of the world.

    Flea markets? Yard sales?

Oh yeah, those were those things I used to go to when I was a little kid before eBay was invented so I could actually find toys I was looking for (back then it was Ninja Turtles   )

I'm sure we will... it seems like almost everything else turns up there at one point or another.

I haven't been to a yard sale or flea market for years. I should really go sometime.

There will always be someone who happens on to something and tries to unload it without knowing (or caring) about more valuable ways to sell it.

I saw a broken 20th anniversary prime (first version) at a yard sale last year. they wanted 40 dollars for it. the clips that held it's upper legs in place in robot mode were broken. lots of other problems too.

Yeah, I'd imagine that one and DVD (possibly Hasbro's Screamer too) are the only ones like to show up as kitbash fodder. Being clearanced at Walmart will do that to you :(

It's all fun and games until rework shows up on Monday in the Toyark with a appliance box full of mint complete toys worth several hundred dollars that he bought for $2 over the weekend. Then he does it again the next weekend. Then again the next. And again the next.

I was lucky enough to have it happen to me already. I picked up a loose Sideswipe, Smokescreen, and Windcharger for about $3 each (perfect shape) + a 20th Ann. Prime (first release), all complete and in perfect condition for only $20. I also picked up a ton of other figs form all generations. I spent about $90 and got around 30 figs. (some of those were, of course, Minicons). The other greatest find there (apart from the above stff) was a perfect G1 Hot Rod for.....$1....crazy, eh? They even had some ML's for $1 a pop. Sometimes I get damn lucky. :)

SoCal suburbia is like the hardest place to find yard sales ever, especially when you're living in an area where houses regularly sell for seven figures.

It's an actual flea market, where they sell fleas of various breeds.

    LOL!

Well, the original poster has a good point. Because of the targeted collector's market of these toys, you will find less of them hitting yard sales and such. Collector's are more likely to Ebay them, if not just keep them to begin with.

I actually have yet to find an Alt at any sale... Although I did find the engine to Alt Grimlock at a Goodwill, and know people who've picked up incomplete Alts (missing body parts) at Thrift stores.
