I have not bought the MP10 yet because I was waiting to hear what the deal was on a USA release and now that we know I plan on purchasing. Seems since the MP10 they have changed the scale of the Mastepiece Transformers. Combine that with the recent price drops on the newer Masterpieces such as Soundwave , Sideswipe and Red Alert and it leads me to believe they will be a smaller scale then previous Masterpiece releases.

Now my question is Will the Soundwave , Sideswipe and Red Alert Mastepieces belong on your Classics shelf?

Will they take the place of your previous character representations? If they are in scale with the classics in some form mine will for sure.

Now I am wondering what are your opinions?

I dont see them fitting in there. Remember most of the classic bots are in the deluxe - voyager size and I dont see them releasing these 2 (Lambor and Alert) being smaller than, say, an Alternator. At the 90 US price tag they have, I expect them to be the same size as Alt. Smokescreen, at best.

Most of the classics line were deluxe sized no? And I'm guessing that classics Sideswipe would have been a deluxe sized figure whereas MP Sideswipe would expected to be no smaller than a voyager...So deducing from that I'm guessing they will not fit in at all with the classics line.

Don't have a classics shelf, I'll just place Soundwave in the nearest opening.

TBH I think if the MP line continues releasing all the loved G1 characters it will EASILY replace the classics line imho. I mean seriously what does a classics figure have on a Masterpiece figure, I would say squat.

    Soundwave?

Maybe. Considering there's not a great Classics Soundwave out there (Titanium and Cybertron are too crap, Generations is awesome but small and no tapes, G1 is... G1), depending on the size and everything he might go on my shelf.

MP and Red Alert? They're not being purchased, but they wouldn't anyway. They'd go with my Alts, though.

I may just stop buying all other Transformers in favor of Masterpiece if they keep more characters coming.

Maybe Sideswipe would fit but I already have an Alternator filling in that position.

I sure hope they do. It will be the ultimate representation of the show we all loved "The Transformers" :)  Imagine in the future people (who are fortunate) to have the original G1 toy with it's masterpiece counterpart. That would be extraordinary.

    I personally dislike shoehorning intensely.

    Masterpieces will stay with Masterpieces.

Soundwave, depending on his final size, most likely yes since I display the MP Seekers in my mixed Cons display (with 3P figures like the Hercules bots, PE-11 Scouting Force X, FP Insecticons) so I'm hoping he measures up to them height-wise. The Classics Seeker mold is just way too damn small for my tastes.

SS/RA? Hard to say. SS and Sunstreaker were two of the bigger bots on the show, and the new MP mold may or may not look right with PP01 Faith Leader, the default Optimus Prime in my Classics Bot display. I do have MP-10 but he's off in a separate shelf chilling with MP-11 and my G1 Revoltechs.

If, and this is a huge if, Hasbro finds a way to make a more diverse series than the first run of MP figures, then I'd probably say MP might have a chance of replacing Classics, but to mix them? Eh no.

Masterpieces go with Masterpieces in my collection. The Classics line is for updated figures where as the MPs I feel remain true to the G1 toys with modern engineering.
