Will the high prices for the Prime figures cause the line to be canceled?

I might have missed this earlier in the thread, Target is up to $16.19 each for the Prime deluxe figures.

Awkward moment when that's what we pay. But none of that in this thread.

No I don't think it will be cancelled.

It is effectively cancelled here already. We have had nothing new locally past wave 1 in most places. Prices are high 50-60 for voyagers and even botshots are now $7-$8.99 depending where you get them. Retailers can't move this stuff. I know there is a lot of US talk about how really stuff is selling to kids but this is not true here. I see the same toys every week. The entire prime section in one target I go to has had other toys dumped over it so much that they are not even visible at first glance.

The price has made it easier not to buy non-show figures like Hot Shot and Dead End.

    No. The prices aren't high.

No it's not, it's called inflation.

Whew you're shopping at some high priced places. My local target still has prime deluxes at 12.99 with FoC at 14.99. I still get all of my Bot Shots for 3.99 on single figures and just got the Battle For The Matrix Bot Shot set that comes with 4 figures and 2 launchers for 19.99. Branch out from the store your at man...or move, whichever is easiest. Damn that's expensive! My condolences to your wallet.

Around Christmas time they'll be an overorder of Wave 5. The shelves will be overflowing with vehicons that won't move and all the nice figures that are supposed to come after will be canceled.

No, he is indeed a TFP whiteknight, and will never stop being one. TFP is essentially his BW, or sacred cow series.

To add to the actual discussion, what's gonna kill the Prime line is the 4th movie, whenever the hell that comes out. Or it'll kill Generations. Or both. But mark my words that when the new movie is put in motion they will push that toyline with all of their fervor, and all the side lines will slow or die.

... We're going to get this all over again in February when the Christmas "sale price" ends, aren't we?

Tell you what else is going to rise in the next couple weeks, gas prices. They'll hit some new all-time high conveniently around the Labor Day weekend, then drop $1.50 over the following two weeks.

You don't think stores do the same thing? How convenient that toy prices rise in the Fall, and then by golly- they're putting them on sale for the Christmas season...

"Lack of inventory" is also intentional. It's August. Save your money for late October.

Haven't been in 2 days. Didn't know they went up. I'm making fewer Hasbro purchases right now anyway due to the lack of new releases and having already gotten most all domestic released figures for the line. Might get 2 more Vehicons and am planning on getting MP figures but mostly 3rd party figures right now and Bot Shots. Thanks for the heads up. I still don't think higher prices will kill the line though. It is the nature of the market right now. If kids want them, parents will pay for it.

    Except in Asia.

Takara and or Hasbro Asia will produce them anyway, and increase the price over and above local price because.

    Queue another round of.

    a) If you're as serious a collector as you claim you are, get on with it and pay up

    b) Wahhhh. I have a mortgage, 2 jobs, 3 kids, 4 car payments, how dare anyone tell me not to complain.

Prime figures are barely selling around here, both FE and RID. All peg/shelfwarmers.

I think what will kill Prime is the lack of variety of figures on the shelves and the loss of momentum wih the show itself, I dont really follow it but it seems to have been off air for a while now. of new episodes anyway.
