If a few years had passed after DotM, I might've said it could, but since Prime toys carry some of the movie aesthetic & the plan is for the movie toys to be completely off the shelves by March, when Prime hits full force, coupled w/ the fact of the Christmas Preview, I think the line should do fine. TransFormers is bigger now that ever, & parents aren't that great at distinguishing between characters. If Generations can sell w/o ANY Fiction tie in what-so-ever, Prime can.

There's also people who don't get the Hub, but can still find eps. online. Though, Hubworld is having some issues right now (I can't watch stuff, despite being in the States, for instance; they know about it & are working on it).

Now, Rescue Bots, that could impact Prime sales. Depends on if the partents distinguish between the 2.

The older Kids like 9-10 buy Priem toys while 4/5 years old buy Rescue Bots.

Basically every kid can play with TF's over the age of 3.

The bad part with comparing movies to Transformers Prime is that some of the characters look so different between the two. Prime and Bumblebee might have gotten a good deal of their movie look but Starscream and Ratchet don't really look like they did in the movies.

I would not say it will cripple the sales or anything.. but it will have a negative effect, even if a small one.

That's more or less how I see it. Classiverse has managed to hold on well enough to keep coming back, presumably not only by fan/collector support, and there's no TV support unless you count G1 reruns on the Hub - so same difference. Prime would undoubtedly have better results on a higher-profile channel, but then again the point was so Hasbro could have programming not subject to the whims of Cartoon Network or whatever other channel/network they work with. I would assume they knew sacrifices would be made especially starting out.

    Whopty Doo.

Bayformer's charecters are better if they were'nt pre-existing.

All the Transformers people wanted got treated like garbage.

Thank the lord it's all over......I hope. Prime atleats respects that Transformers is robots and the humans allies not the otherway around.

I kinda wondered this as well. I think Prime will do aight because they look similar to the movie designs. Maybe it'll hurt a little.

But Arcee wasn't in the most recent one. Which is the closest aired film to Prime. And Wheeljack is named Que in the film. Added to the fact, he doesn't look like Wheeljack at all, he might as well be a different character.

Both of these means that Prime doesn't really benefit from their film depictions.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I avoided Animated because of how they looked.

Again, I speak for myself when I say that I didn't up my cable package for 1 show- and I am glad because it turned out to be a handfull of episodes... not worth upping mu cable package.

Besides, Prime's figures are close enough to the Movie aesthetic so that PRIME can ride DOTM's wave.

If anything, maybe there will be more attention to the show... maybe more cable subscriptions... because of the toys. But that's a stretch.

The toy will be Wheeljack, but Wheeljack wasn't in the movie- only Que.

Que is Wheeljack. the Comics and books have the character named a wheeljack, the Toyline refers the character as Wheeljack and the Credits of the movie says his name is Wheeljack/Que. which means Que is jsut Movie WHeeljack nickname (or the other way around)

what i dont get is why u gusy think que and hweeljack (same with Mirage/Dino) are seperate characters. Remember we haev the Devastator/Brawl thing in Movie 1, but We all consider him the same character.

If it has not been said (which I am sure it has, but hell.) I will say now without reservation.
Wheeljack would not go down begging like a punk. Wheeljack was not in that film or that franchise. wheeljaq well /shrug.
    End of story.

That, however, is a discussion for the movie forum. Back on topic, I will say this one thing that will help or hurt the sales a lot is the packaging and at least the first edition ones that I saw look really slick so as long as they keep up that work it should be fine.

    I call him Devastator.
    And Que.
    And Dino.

    Why?

Because they weren't called Brawl, Wheeljack or Mirage in the movies.

It probably won't be an issue in Canada, due to the fact that Prime airs on a basic package television network here.

Same here. The toy line probably won't fail because of the strong similarities to the movie aesthetic, but I can't help but feel that if the show was available to more people, they'd buy more toys :)  I mean Optimus Prime and Bumblebee etc are a given, but a lot of kids would probably need to know who Breakdown was to want to buy him.
