Not big head line news but lately there was news about the end of production for the F-22 Raptor. For people not heavy into military gear it's the jet that Starscream transformed into for the live action movies.

Here is one of the articles about the end of production Last F-22 Raptor Rolls Off Assembly Line | Fox News

So with the end of production and the Pentagon only having a small fleet that does not see much action will we see other jets take over the alt mode role for Transformers with a jet mode in future films? If the Pentagon continues to offer equipment for the films do you think they will push the film makers to use some other form of jet?

In my own film "adaptation", I have the seekers as F-15's, but there's a reason for that.

Didn't we have this same argument when they stopped making the Topkick?

Surely they'll just make the Seekers F-35s?

What difference does it really make to the films? From what I heard, Starscream's alt mode has been CGI since Revenge of the Fallen. Surely they'll do that in the future too.

    Or, just change the vehicle.

So.. are they just stopping production or are they retiring the fleet?

if it's just stopping production that's actually fairly common, the Abrams battle-tank isn't in production either & last I've heard it's still in use

Seeing as Starscream is dead it doesn't really matter. If they do have another jet con or bot then it'll probably be whatever comes out next.

Or they could go back to the F-15 ^_^

There's no real rule that says they have to use the greatest and most recent make of vehicles in the TF films. They used A-10s and a Spooky gunship in the first film and those have been around for a fairly long time. Megatron was this old beat up truck in DOTM. Ratchet was still a hummer h2 which was discontinued around the same time as the Topkick, and he didn't get an upgrade to a Hummer h3, nor did he get killed off.

No F-22 = perfectly legitimate excuse to resurrect Starscream and reformat him for TF4 :)

I was thinking the same thing. The F-22 isnt beinf retired but prodution is going to stop as the F-35 and maybe a newer yet to be seen Fighter may take the place of the F-22. If Starscream was to somehow come back, it would be cool to see him take a new form of Jet.

Unlikely. Starscream pretty much stopped using his alt. mode for disguise as of ROTF when he covered it in Cybertronian tatoos.

Plus, changing the alt. mode would require creating a whole new CGI model for Starscream, which would take up a lot of development time, although now that Megatron probably doesn't need ANOTHER new model...regardless, it would be much easier to just reuse the existing models. Bumblebee got away with constantly changing his form, but then really the only visual difference was that he got different car body kits.

There's always the idea his Spark is indestructable.

so his head blew up, I mean come on, both Megatron and Optimus for that matter had their Sparks destroyed and yet they came back. If anything, the one thing that should keep a TF dead (destroying its Spark) seems not to keep a TF dead in the Bayverse so why should a TF losing its head be any different? Thats all I'm saying lol

Even though they are quitting production, it's still the most advanced fighter we have, so I don't see why they wouldn't still use it. (just make it a different transformation from SS)

They could use the F-35 since it is newer but it's a joint-strike fighter, a little different.
