I noticed that Shout Factory have not released Transformers The Movie after the previous one was discontinued. I am just grateful that they are releasing Beast Wars again, and G1 anime.

Sony may still have the rights to the movie for a while longer, so Shout may not be able to. They may also think the market is still somewhat crowded with copies of the 20th anniversary DVD.

It is? I haven't seen it anywhere. New copies go for for crazy amounts on Amazon and eBay.

I bought the Ultimate DVD for not much money. But I have seen the other versions for lesser money on Amazon.

They should release one on August 8 of this year, let's really make it it's 25th anniversery.

Although i do already have it on DVD, (Older DVD release not the 2006 version)

Seeing that Sony had re-released TF: The Movie (1986) for its 20th anniversary, with lots of awesome extras that puts the Rhino's re-release of the movie to shame, I really can't see much of a reason to re-release it again... even with this year being the movie's 25th anniversary.

I'm just perfectly happy with the 20th anniversary edition of TF: The Movie, that I really can't see the need to buy yet another copy of it.

Buy a used copy on Amazon and it will only be 21-22 bucks.

I only remember it ending up in bargain bins for 8 bucks a few years ago, so I figured there were still tons out there.

I still see it at Target's and Best Buy's occasionally. Shout themselves have tackled this issue saying there really isn't a need as the 20th Anniversary edition pretty much covered all the bases.

The one that just came out a couple of years ago isn't still readily available?

I've bought this thing on DVD like 3 times, now. I don't need another one.

They could do a super fan edition, with half a dozen fan commentaries and most common trivia discussions associated with the film. Video and photo reviews of the toys that were released for the movie. Maybe get IDW to let them stick their Movie Adaptation comic on there as well, or the old Marvel one. Or both.
There may not be that much new official material from back during the film production that can be added to the set but I'm sure a nice weighty celebration set could be created with ideas provided by the fanbase, such as the few I mentioned above.

What the hell. I just looked up the Sony DVD on amazon and it says "We are not able to ship this item to your default shipping address."

Usually it only says that on toys and stuff. What gives?

I would so buy it for a third time to get it on Blu-ray. That would be awesome!
