Guess I'm old, I'm not familiar with this guy.

I'm sure Transformers did push technology forward. I'm sure after children saw 'Roll for it' they went around rampantly shredding 7 1/2 inch floppy disks everywhere, necessitating the invention of CD technology.*

    *Please note, this is humor.

Will I Am does stuff outside the Black Eyed Peas?

    Huh.

I could dig that. I've never liked Blaster much, though.

I think its just what happens when anything is announced. People start bashing it because thats what they tend to do here, then after they are done the more level headed people put their 2 cents in.

Agreed, whether you like it or not those record sales prove its music. Whether other people can acknowledge music has as many forms as life on this planet doesn't change that its music, just that they don't like that preference.

He's not really saying that, though. He's saying that's what inspired him to chase robots and technology, and now he looks at his laptop and sees this amazing machine that's like a futuristic robot to him. I think he's trying to say that what Optimus Prime was to him, the robots and science fiction of the past were to others, and the fantasies and dreams of people before the genre were to those people: something to look at and say "yeah, I want to make that real".

    i c wat u did thar

Seriously, though.. i am all for everyone liking whatever they like, but this bullshit "ermagherd it's not music blah blah" give me a BREAK. Music is my passion way before TFs, and for people to pigeonhole what music "is" and "is not" annoys me to no end.

I think he's overstating the impact a bit. I mean its nice he felt inspired by Transformers to do something other than collect toys, but let's not go overboard Will.i.am.

Loved your work on Rio, by the way :)

I dunno about hate, but William is considered somewhat a bit of a joke here in England now since The Voice and Tweeting while carrying the Olympic Torch. I'd probably feel the same about if Katie Price had said Transfomers encouraged her in her career. Now if Boris Johnson had said it at least it would've been entertaining buffoonery. I can imagine it now:

Boris Johnson: "Transformers first started here on the tables of England. And back then it was called 'Biff-Bott'. Well now Biff-Bott is coming home!"
