I know he's back, so considering the fact that the Cons will have their own scenes this time around, I suppose Blackout will speak. What do you think?

I'm hoping so. I asked Orci what he imagined Blackout sounded like and he wouldn't divulge. So I'm hoping for a surprise. Then again, he could just be a silent hound.

I'm going to be a bit weird but maybe it would be cool if he didn't have lines. One of those characters that you can never be sure what they are up to because they don't say anything.

On the other hand though it would be fun to speculate what he might sound like.

Seeing as a Pave Low is huge -- bigger even than Megatron is, I think -- it is traditional to have a rumbling, deep voice for such a character. However, I think they should surprise us all and have him speak in Chris Latta-type voice. It would please me to have the expectation of a deep voice turned on its head like that.

I doubt I will get my wish, though. Seeing as Blackout is meant to be supremely loyal to Megatron and is described somewhere as the presence "looming over Megatron's shoulder", we need someone capable of pulling off a character that is subordinate and unwilling to usurp his leader in an effort to gain power for himself. Colonel Tigh from Battlestar Galactica is such a person. He is (mostly) excellent in his position as XO and completely incapable of command himself. Actually, Michael Hogan (the actor behind Tigh) could work...

I think Blackout should only speak in Cybertronian as he did in the first film. His character can be one who thinks so little of humans that he refuses to stoop to their primitive linguistic levels.

It would be kool if blackout says something to Meggerz in Cybertronian and there are no subtitles, but then Megs replies in english ''hm, yessss, you make a good point blackout''

    that would be jokes!

If he does speak in the movie, and it is an earth language, I hope they use something similar to the voice used in the first movie video game. I thought he sounded really great there.

Because he is the loyal hound of the most WISE and GLORIOUS Megatron who has returned not only himself, but his most HUMBLE and FAITHFUL servant from oblivion to lead them to victory over their hated foes!

Well, we know what Animated Blackout sounds like, though.

Although admittedly, I would fall the hell out of my theatre seat if Blackout started in on that stuff like that in the movie.

I dunno, I can only take so much *BRP-KROOP-FRK-RRHK*, myself. But the fact that they picked someone like Mike Patton to voice Mixmaster and there's no voice credit anyone can find at all for Blackout, I doubt he'll speak one syllable of English.

For some reason I'm doubtful we'll be hearing that much from the rank-and-file, cannon fodder 'cons. This is all I expect -

"Blackout! I needs a status report on the current operations of - "
    "I-I'm Grindor, Lord Megatron."
    "...What?"
    "My name is Grindor."
"...Oh. W-well, where is Blackout, then?"
"I-I don't if we have anyone in our army with that name, sir."
"What? Have I been calling you Blackout this whole time?"

This is more lines than all decepticons other than megatron from the first film.

I'm sure there will be more speech by transformers that in the first film, but I'm guessing between 10% and 20% more no matter what the makers imply.
