like the complaining of the boomerang controller, i guess it worked here too.

But how much will it be costing...but i would of rather have more colors.

So much for the revisions being just for handhelds, now the consoles will be getting multiple versions too. WiiVD?

I fail to see why they just can to a software update since the Wii already uses standard DVD discs.

I'm pretty sure its just a software update, so those who will own the dvd incapable version can just load a disc that can solve the problem

If it was just a software update, why didn't they put it in in the first place, and why are they putting out a whole new version of the Wii that has it?

Hardware, people. Just because it has a DVD drive DOES NOT mean it has the necessary DVD decoding hardware.

Don't quote me on that, but it's the only thing that makes sense, unless they have to license DVD decoding software from someone else.

Meh. I'm buying the wii for gaming. If I want to watch dvd's I'll play them in my, you know, dvd player. What a novel concept.

Im pretty sure that its just licensing fees and stuff of that nature. There could be some hardware in there, but I would imagine that the Wii would have more than enough processing power to even emulate it.

All this being said, I bet this is just like a Panasonic Q version of the Wii.

It looks like Nintendo will have to make some changes to the hardware as well.

Oh well, not like I'm buying it to watch movies at all anyway. I have 30 DvD players in my home.

I'm not even slightly bothered by the Wii not having DVD player capability; I have a DVD player anyway. Plus, it'd probably lock the drive after a certain number of region changes, and I play a lot of import DVDs.

I have enough things that play DVDs already, but it sucks to know that I'll be missing out on a possible back up if the worst possible scenario comes up and all of my other DVD players break. Still, I planned on getting a Wii by March next year, and this isn't gonna make me wait any longer for it than that,

Wii playing DVDS, no thanks. I want it for gaming experience not to watch movies.

That's all I gotta say. You can buy a DVD player for less then $250 if you really want to watch them anyway.

I no longer have a DVD player that can play US dvds. Does this mean I have to wait until spring to buy Wii since a US imported DVD capable one would be useful for me?

Oh no! Help! I need Zelda.
