Also, bad news for HDTV owners wanting a Tony Hawk game for their Wii...

That sucks for me as I own an HDTV. :(

    That's weird...

Nintendo currently have an online presence, what with the NDS wifi, I would have thought 3rd party support would be a given...

If that's true, I'd guess it's because Nintendo wants to do it itself first, iron out the bugs and show it's 3rd parties how it wants things done.

exactly how many consoles have had online play up and running on launch anyways? Xbox 360, and... nothing else, right? Xbox and DC had to wait a few months, PS2 had to wait a few years, so whats the big deal about a few months without third party online support?

So it'll be what, 6 weeks from launch? The online thing doesn't seem be that long of a wait.

    Hmmm...
No big shakes for me. I don't think I'll ever be hooking a console up to the internets.

Not too big of a deal IMO. Smash Bros will most likely be the first online game and thats okay with me. Also, didnt somebody working for Metroid say something about adding online multiplayer later through Wii Connect 24?

No 3rd party online support until 2007. Retro Studios is not 3rd party. They could have online support before 2007. :)

They've acknowledged that this was a mistake in a survery they did awhile back. It asked if people liked the fact that every game had a different number, or if it would be easier if all games used the same number. Of course, most people hate the idea of a different friend code for every game, and would love the chance to have the same thing.

It's a good idea, just wasn't implemented as well as it could have been. Nintendo's just trying to get people to play together without all the negative possibilities and bad media involved with everyone being able to talk to everyone else.

Eh so if it launches in november then we wait what 2 months? Not a big deal nothing else they could be prepping servers or something in case.

Sorry, I can't see how it's even remotely a good idea.

it would be insane to own a wii without putting it online. Wii Connect 24, and the virtual console = awesomeness

But talking to others is all the fun of online games. If you can't communicate then it's just like playing against harder AI.
At least MK:A is on Wii later than PS2 and X-Box. Hopefully it will get online play.

You must consider the source of said insults. In response to the online debate, it's disappointing to say the least. There's really no excuse for it during this current generation of consoles.

Dude, it's only a couple of months. I can't even think of many third party launch games that warrant online play in the first place.

Hence a mute button. Or even not using the headset if you don't want to. Just learn to work VERY well as a lone wolf because the rest of us on your team will be organized via the voice chat. Just because you see more bad than good on in-game voice chat doesn't mean that no one should be able to use it.
