You need a wireless connection or a cable (I can't remember what kind) to connect to the satellite box.

Yea I know, But i was just wondoring if it would work like wifi (i don't really know what the differnce between sat and wifi is) or if I could just buy that USB adaptor thing for it.

Im on a 56k modem and if I upgrade to the sat Internet I wanna make sure my Wii can use it just for the virtual Console and the Downloadable channels.

    I believe you can.
However according to Nintendo you need cable or DSL. Xbox Live has the same requirement, but I have seen people get on Xbox Live with satellite.

You may want to check a more Wii specific site, though.

You can use the Wii on dialup. In fact I'm using it right now. You do need to enable internet connection sharing on your PC. Just go into network properties choose your dialup connection, click proterties, go to advanced and then choose "allow internet connection sharing"

This option won't show up though until after you install a router, the USB connector, or an ethernet card on your PC though.

The USB connector is the easiest method and you can use it for online play on DS as well.

Yes unfortunately, I live in an area without cables in the ground.

Satellite would be the WAN side of your connection (from your house to your ISP and the Internet). WiFi would be the LAN side (between devices in your house). Any kind of connection to the Internet will work as long as you have WiFi access to it. (so the answer is "yes")
